JOHN HALL SWORN INTO THE 110TH CONGRESS

http://www.johnhallforcongress.org/node/387

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U. S. Representative John Hall was sworn into 110th Congress today in the United States Capitol. With his wife Pamela and daughter Sofi watching from the House gallery, Hall and his colleagues ushered in the new Democratic majority in Congress and then made history by voting for the first-ever female Speaker of the House, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

(L-R) Dr. James Hall and Marie Hall (parents), Sofi Hall (daughter), Speaker Pelosi, Pamela Hall (wife), Jim Hall (brother) and John.

Later, Hall attended a ceremonial swearing-in ceremony presided over by Speaker Pelosi in the Rayburn Room at the Capitol with his family and friends. Hall's office, located across the street from the Capitol in the Longworth House Office Building (Room 1217), was open all day to guests and visitors, among them Senator Chuck Schumer, the new Majority Leader Rep. Steny Hoyer (MD) and Representatives Nita Lowey and Eliot Engel.

"I'm so proud, honored and humbled to be here representing the 19th Congressional District," said Hall. "We've gotten right to work passing rules and ethics legislation. The people voted for change, and now they're going to get it."

2. Helped me find sobriety
John had a song titled "cocaine drain" that was played so often I wore out the tape. I first heard him at an anti-nuclear ralley in SF along with Bonnie Raitt. Got that tape soon after.

A year or two later I was sobering up...much better life now.

Nice to have him in the House.

4. it's important to note that John would not have been elected without the massive . . .
number of grassroots supporters who worked their tails off for him . . .

given virtually no chance in either the primary or the general election, John's army of over 1,200 volunteers knocked on doors, made phone calls, and prepared mailings right up to election day, and it paid off -- albeit narrowly . . .

just goes to show that people power can indeed initiate real change . . .

5. And Stephen Colbert!
Don't forget when he made such a great impression during Colbert's "Better Know A District" segment! I think that got him mucho media attention.

7. One very wealthy gay republican also helped him immensely
The guy spent 500k in independent expendatures against the incumbent after she voted for the FMA. That softened her up for Hall.

Committee in order to come up with solutions for energy! I just love this man!

Edited to also mention that he will also be working alongside of Andy Spano in trying to find solutions to Indian Point and their "evacuation" plan. If you've ever read the plan, it is totally insane. Even Pataki rejected it but FEMA approved it.
As it stands now, my youngest son who is still in HS will be evacuated to lower Westchester where IMHO the most chaos would take place if there was an accident or worse. I have already given him instructions that he wasn't to go and was to meet up with me.

:hi:
