There are those that see change as destruction. In a sense they are right. Progress represents the destruction of previous ways. Fear of change of this nature stems from the uncertainty of what is going to follow change.

See the blind spot in progressive/liberal ideology is that we cannot forsee the long term and wide spread effects of the changes we initiate in society. We operate on what we have come to learn is morally right or wrong. If we find it is wrong to deny women the right to work then we demand that they be allowed to work. But this creates a flood on the market of workers. That was not the focus of the realization. The focus was on the injustice of denying women the right to work. But righting that creates waves in the society.

It is the Conservatives fear that such change leads to destruction of society. It is the Liberals hope that the society can adapt to such change.
