With their fucking Cokehead-in-Chief occupying the Oval Office, how dare they bash Obama for admitting to using cocaine when he was a much younger man? We all make mistakes, and the Repukes have shown that they have quite a few skeletons in their closet.

How DARE they try to claim the "moral high ground".

you will be hard-pressed to find someone who didn't experiment with illicit drugs at one time or another. I thought it was a non-issue with Clinton and Gore, but it became one. I thought it was a non-issue with Bush as well, but the hypocrisy of it all is what irked me. The same folks who cried foul when Clinton & Gore admitted to a little toke tried to spin that it "wasn't important" that Bush was on the marching powder through much of his youth. You can't have it both ways, and that's what bothers me. Same goes for Obama. As long as drug use does not currently impair his judgement, it's of no consequence.

3. Lacking any sense of hypocrisy, as far too many RRR do, it's far too easy.
It also makes it exceptionally easy to claim the "moral high ground."

Let go of your thoughtful, questioning mind and sense of humor, and you, too, can be a member of the RRR.

5. I had not heard about Obama's cocaine use until seeing this thread
I'm kind of disappointed. I won't get on a high horse and look down at Obama, because maybe back in his youthful days, the information about the effects of drugs was not as widespread. I'd prefer not to see too many discussions about this, spreading the meme even further than it needs to be spread. Somehow, I don't see that happening though...

7. I heard some right-wing nutjob talking about it a few days ago
Might have been Mike Galloway, not sure. He was talking about Obama's book, where he mentions that he used cocaine as a teenager and college student. The host then went on to question whether we should elect someone who has done drugs in the past, because it shows a lack of character.

I wonder if people in cars near me thought I was crazy for screaming at my radio!

6. the best response is. . .
yes, I'm concerned about it too. Your president was an alcoholic until he was 40 years old and he was the worst president we've ever had. Maybe we shouldn't have forgiven him his youthful indiscretions. I'm surprised to see you worry about that in a Dem when it didn't matter in a member of your own party. But the I forget that to you, hypocrisy is not a problem when you or yours do it.

I'll look more closely this time. We need someone in the WH who is honorable this time. I'm just not so sure trying cocaine a few times is the same as being drunk half your life.
