Someone from Rep Tom Reynolds office just called my husband at work
Edited on Fri Jan-05-07 10:17 AM by timber84
My husband had previously registered as a republican as a joke so he could tell all the repubs that would call us at home what a joke their party is. now today someone called him at work(scary) to invite him to a dinner with Dubya. He told the person on the other line he had better things to do with his time, I would have gotten more info i.e. how much it costs to eat with Dim Sum. However the calling at work is a little freaky or am I paranoid?

1. A little freaky, but nothing to be worried about, unless...
they are going to eat either one of you.

Now on the other, I'd assume a sitting President costs a lot of money to eat with, though I might be wrong.

2. Too bad he didn't say yes
I'd love to sit down to dinner with dubya and tell him exactly what I think of his war.

3. It requires a donation
There's a comedian who messes with telemarketers who received one of these. The caller said he could attend the dinner if he made a contribution, I think $10,000. The comedian didn't acknowledge that he would give any money but went on to ask what his wife should wear? If he had to wear a jacket & tie? Could he wear his sport jacket his wife bought him in the 90's for an uppity niece's wedding reception? etc. It was hilarious.

4. Just a note — you might want to rethink calling W "Dim Sum." That's a Cantonese
phrase meaning "touch the heart."

5. Do you remember Tom Delay's fund raising PAC
where they called business owners and told them they'd won a "leadership award"? Small catch you had to make a hefty donation to Delay's PAC in order to attend the dinner where you received the award.

My husband got one of these calls at his office. It is actually funny because he is a registered Democrat and has a history of contributing to Democrats, NEVER Republicans.

We had some fun with it. I called them back and tied their telemarketer up on the phone for more than 40 minutes with questions before I revealed that we would never contribute a dime to Delay or any other Republican.

6. Sounds like the Nigerian lottery scam...
doesn't it?

"I have this award for you, but you have to pay me some money to get it."

Although, I assume the "leader" gets his or hers award, unlike the money in the Nigerian scam.

7. I got the same thing..........
Tell you that you are up for a national leadership award and all you have to do is send $500.00 to the NRCC.
Another Scam from repugs. I wanted to tell them that I wouldn't have sent money to support the Nazi's and I'm not about to send money to any repug. Unfortunately I'm a civil person.
