John Boehner on NPR: "I'm out of touch with reality"
Okay, the House Minority leader didn't really say that. But it sure translates that way:

"I do think that most Americans want to achieve the same goal the President wants to achieve. At the end of the day, anything short of victory in Iraq will do nothing more than embolden the terrorists. ...I do believe that Americans want victory, and I believe that is the goal."

Hey John? House elections, two months ago? Ring a bell?

1. What a tool!
Who doesn't want victory? Do I want victory? Hell yes, I want victory.

Now, would you do me a favor and define what "victory" means in the context of Iraq? I'm remembering the quote from the Vietnam War from the father of a dead GI -- "Even if we win the war, what will we have won?" I'm not willing to pay the price until I know what I'm buying.

That being said, there's nothing we get from stability in Iraq that is worth the price we've already paid, much less worth the price of one more American kid. What's more, it's becoming increasingly obvious that our current policy in Iraq is making the country less stable (theirs and ours) and is acting as an ongoing recruiting drive for terrorists.

So perhaps "victory" in Iraq means withdrawing our combat troops and relying on diplomatic efforts, as we should have done in the first place.

2. Sure I want victory
A victory for me would be an announcement that we're immediately implementing Jack Murtha's redeployment plan... a victory would be shutting down Gitmo and the secret rendition sites in Europe... a victory for me would be impeachment of both the president and vice president and turning them, along with Rice, Rummy, Wolfowitz, Hughes, Feith and Perle over to The Hague for War Crimes Trials.
