The next 100 Hours? A DU plank project.
I have to admit that I admire Speaker Pelosi's grand agenda for the first one hundred hours. She is stepping up to the plate and fixing what she deems can be fixed. I have no problems with her agenda. That being said. I have a few of my own pet causes that I would like to see at least debated on the house floor such as election reform. My question to DU is if we could write the agenda for the next 100 hours what would you like to see on it?

1. Repeal that inhuman bankruptcy law they passed last year
Selfish, I know, (we're about to file), but I'm not the only one who would benefit.

And everything else this crew comes up with.

13. A nice idea.
Maybe codify that they are to be strictly ceremonial and cannot interfere with implementation or execution of the law.

3. I'd also like to hear/see
some talk about stopping the offshoring/outsourcing of jobs, as well as what is to be done about our trade deficit.

10. I agree and think that we should
do an LTTE campaign to highlight Senator McCains flip flopping on this issue. According to Novak he is the leading repuke canidate. We should force his feet to the fire early and often. I was appalled after knowing that he was once a prisoner of war that he would give his assent to Bush's plan.

5. No offense, but I don't think she's taking suggestions
from DU, the R's or anyone else.

She's gonna be forced to be very focused to get everything she wants done in 100 hours as it is.

9. Maybe she won't listen. But

I was hoping we could harness the power of DU to put forth a agenda for when they complete the priorities of the first one hundred hours. I think that sometimes you have to push the leadership in the direction you wish them to go. I am sure the very capable speaker will have no problem implementing her first one hundred hour programs. What should they tackle next?

6. Maybe repeal virtually everything the Repubs have passed in the
last twelve years of misrule, including the bogus impeachment of Bill Clinton. I believe the congress could nullify the impeachment according to the rules. Then let's get started on the investigations and ultimate impeachment of W.

8. That is perfect!
I have always wanted to yell "aaarghhh, you to be walking the plank matey!
ok pirate fantasy is over.
I hear you Socal and am with you 100% but I don't want this turning into another ad nauseum arguement about the merits of impeachment. I was hoping for a list of ideas we could agree to send to dems. Prove we are the party of ideas.

14. Re-allow Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices with Big PhRMA
We should not have to pay with our taxpayer dollars what PhRMA says we should pay. Medicare should have the power to negotiate for a fairer price for the sake of saving taxpayer dollars.

16. Good idea. Isn't negotiating the Medicare prescription prices on
for the first 100 hours? I may be wrong, but that's what I thought I saw.

I'm all for getting onto these projects:

Global Warming
Universal healthcare
The Bankruptcy bill

I'm sure I'll think of more.

I'm sure our reps all have great ideas for that second 100 hours, but writing in suggestions can only help strengthen their resolve to get things done.
