Rev. Al Mohler hospitalized but "'recuperating well' from blood clots"

This asshat is on the board of directors of (Out of) Focus on the Family and heads the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary here in Louisville, KY.

He's a pseudo-Christian extraordinaire and was apparently hospitalized yesterday:

R. Albert Mohler Jr., president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, is responding well to treatment after being placed in intensive care Friday, according to a Seminary administrator.

Mohler, 47, an outspoken evangelical leader, was hospitalized Dec. 27 after experiencing abdominal pain and underwent surgery at Baptist East Hospital to remove scar tissue from a 1980s operation. He was expected to be released after a few days, but suffered a setback earlier this week when blood clots developed in his lungs, forcing him to be moved to intensive care.

Russell Moore, the dean of the school of theology and senior vice-president of academic administration at the seminary, wrote on Mohler's Web site Friday night that Mohler's condition was improving.

"While his situation is still very serious, it seems that the doctors have his treatment well underway and he is recuperating well," Moore wrote.

Can't say I wish that piece of shit a speedy recovery.

3. I have many mixed feelings about him.

I was going through some old class pictures from years ago...he was such a cute little kid with a wonderful family who were devoted to his teachers. He changed, and it saddens me. I have seen too many in my church change so drastically.

Graduated 1991, during Roy Honeycutt's next to last year at the helm. I got to watch from the inside as the religious zealots systematically brought down good people with lies and accusations, then finally take full control and complete their task of ruining what had been a good school. And not just professors accused of heresies and immorality--a lot of other employees were dragged through the mud, and many other good friends who were never directly in jeopardy of being fired lost long-held jobs as the school changed and restructured its support staff, or finally decided they could no longer work in such a rigid environment and quit.

The God I learned about there did have much to say about forgiveness, but also spoke of shaking the dust off ones feet under the right circumstances. I have long ago shaken the dust off my feet stirred up by the Al Mohlers of the world. No tears for Al from me.

5. Never heard of him. Sounds like he had a PE (pulmonary

embolism)...clots form in the leg veins after immobilization and travel to the lungs. He'll have an IVC filter placed and be put on Coumadin.
