I know he's a self-loathing, Repuke homosexual jerk with Murdock up his ass, but he does have one of the most linked sites on the web. The last thing the Dems need to do is to give the Repuke Media Machine ammo with which to hurt them. Apparently Drudge has Hoyer's schedule indicating 4-day upcoming work week.

1. I heard Hoyer; he said they'd occasionally take Friday off if there
was no really pressing business, and he did mention people getting home, but in no way did he say that Fridays were going to be off days officially. Drudge, making mountains out of mole hills yet again.

No pressing business? have they passed the 1st 100 hours agenda yet?

4. A really, REALLY slow news day
Edited on Sun Jan-07-07 05:27 PM by Gman
the guy's desperate for copy so he has to make up some kind of issues as he goes along to get the clicks for his advertisers:

"Hill sources claim The House is taking Monday 'off' this week, because of the championship football game between Ohio State and the University of Florida.

And, of course, the following Monday is the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday."

5. Under promise and over deliver
"Under promise and over deliver" should be the Democratic motto. Fact is it is a good motto of all of us.

Nancy Pelosi and the House must do what they promise (and hopefully more), especially those things that are totally under House rules, such as ethics and lobbying. Such a refreshing outcome will bring momentum and many voters into the fold in 2008.

Conversely there is nothing that will hurt the Party's chances in 2008 more than giving Rush or the GOP ammo to be able to say they can't even work 5 days when they said they would.

Now when it comes to actually making law, we all fully realize that passing legislation in the House isn't the same as becoming law, so promises won't necessarily become reality...but that can be used against Bush and the GOP.

Edited on Sun Jan-07-07 05:30 PM by ruggerson
He obliges every stupid little smear they want to try to drum up.

He is the one, after all, that won the election for George Allen by splashing the "lurid" prose of Jim Webb's novel under his pathetic flashing sirens.

Oh, wait.

Webb won.

What a shame, Matt. All that effort to save Senator Macacawitz and what do you have to show for it?

16. So What! Whine Whine Whine
Like you expected the hate media to show any form of respect? They're starting to come to grips with a new reality...they're not as big and strong and popular as they thought they were. Immediately after the election came the denial as they still had the majorities...now comes the realization and anger as the situation has changed. The hypocrisies of these morons is amusing as they'll find anything to make Democrats look bad...anything.

In the past...a 5 day week usually started late on Monday...as it will today...to allow west coast Congresscritters to get into DC (5 hour flight kids). Hoyer set up a vote for 3pm this afternoon...guess who wanted to move it later? Blunt! Did Dredge print that? Of course not.

25. Picky, picky, picky
I confess, I didn't click the link. BUT!!! If Drudge is complaining about Hoyer's calendar for the "upcoming" week being four work days then he can stick it where the sun doesn't shine. Come to think of it, Drudge can stick anyway.

Looking at my calendar, next Monday is MLK's birthday. Maybe Drudge should have checked his calendar before going off on the gotcha schtick. He probably also has the same piece ready to go for Good Friday, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas!

27. Idiotic move
So the Congressional delegations from FL and OH want to go to the football game. Let them go and miss the scheduled session of Congress, but cancel the whole session for this reason? Especially after making the big announcement over and over that the Dems would see to it that they worked a 5 day week? MLK Day is a Federal holiday and a totally different situation. But cancel and break a promise the FIRST week for a football game of interest to 2 state delegations?

Dems are so stupid.

Edited on Mon Jan-08-07 12:13 PM by RamboLiberal
because of the championship game at Boehner's request so he could attend the game. So a Repuke requests it, Dems give in and CNN and their ilk get to trash them for already breaking their promise. "Americans don't get to take-off for a football game" CNN was already whining. Dumb move Dems! :banghead:

You damn well should've been working today and told the OH and FL reps - TOUGH!

36. I'm not paying my taxes so jerks can go to an INCONSEQUENTIAL football game.
Sports are irrelevant to governmental business and should NEVER be an excuse for failing to do the "people's work.

I agree this was a VERY STUPID move by Dems...particularly because it was prompted by a Repuke. I view Boehner's request as a trap, for which Dems fell right into it.

Majority leader Steny Hoyer said members of the House will be expected in the Capitol for votes each week by 6:30 p.m. Monday and will finish their business about 2 p.m. Friday.

By my count that's all of monday off and just over a half day on Friday.

38. Nonsense
then why mention Rupert Murdock (sic)? Is he known to be gay?

There are threads here almost every day claiming that some well-known republican is gay. It's meant to insult them.

I've heard that Drudge is gay, but I certainly haven't heard enough about it to know that he's "self-loathing". But nonetheless, this discussion could've been had without any reference to his sexuality.

I will continue to raise the issue of a persons sexuality, particularly when it is illustrative of that person's hypocracy in supporting a political party and ideals that are anti-thetical to that which the person is. I give no quarter to hypocrits and just back off with your PC indignation bullshit.

45. "PC"?
First off, "PC" is a bullshit RW term. It's a way for people to frame others as having some newspeak agenda, which is total garbage.

Secondly, I think anyone who is gay in this nation has every damn right to be indignant, especially in recent times.
