Let us revisit a Molly Ivins classic:
She wrote this just after the 2004 debacle and I thought (hoped) at the time that it was mighty prescient. Sure seems to be so. The article's title is A Rotting, Dead Chicken and you can read/relish it in its entirety at this link, http://www.commondreams.org/views04/1112-24.htm

Snip>

My friend John Henry Faulk always said the way to break a dog of that habit is to take one of the chickens the dog has killed and wire the thing around the dog's neck, good and strong. And leave it there until that dead chicken stinks so bad the dog won't be able to stand himself. You leave it on there until the last little bit of flesh rots and falls off, and that dog won't kill chickens again.

The Bush Administration is going to be wired around the neck of the American people for four more years, long enough for the stench to sicken everybody. It should cure the country of electing Republicans.

I can think of nothing more likely to convince the people not to vote for Republicans again for a long, long time than four more years of George W. Bush.

Ah, the sweet stench of the end of Rethug rule for the foreseeable future.......

2. But, alas, it is
The stench is everywhere and even diehard Repugs are smelling it and they aren't liking it. People are running away from the rotting stench of Bush and they aren't likely to go back anytime soon. The thing that inspired me to go back and look up this oldie but goodie was someone posting about their GOP family member who was losing his faith in the Bush Maladministration. They're leaving like rats.....

7. Yup
That Bush bird is damn near rotted off by now, but I sense a few more months of stinkage but then, with any luck, even the diehards will refuse to vote Republican for a generation or two.
