If Al Gore runs---I wonder how he'll run?
Many say he ran a bad campaign in 2000 because of his handlers, etc. I never bought into that being that he started the campaign 10 to 15 points behind and ended it with a half million votes more than Bush Jr.

BUT I wonder how he'll play it this time.

Me-thinks that at every turn, it will be a Gloves off campaign and that he'll swing hay-makers to the very end. AND this time he has us and the many watchdog blogs out there to watch his back from our silly media whores.

I couldn't find anything online, so I don't know where they got their info from, but it was music to my ears.

2. I think he will rise like a great leader and rally people to him. He will
defy the press and roar his message, not angrely, but passionately. We will laugh at the pundits who will try to stop him. He will plow right over them. And, we will have a new beginning that we have all been envisioning.

41. Bible?
Sounds like a Biblical rising! LOL

My concern with Gore is that he has identified himself as a one-issue guy. Global warming 24/7. If he wants broader support, he is going to have to start branching out in his issues.

Also, the man needs some lessons in public speaking. He comes off as so wooden sometimes, like he's uncomfortable in his own skin.

A LOT of people of varied backgrounds ranging from concerned, to worried, to scared stiff over the state of the planet will back him.

I am holding back right now, waiting for Al's announcement. I'm not gonna commit until Al says one way or another. If Al decides to not to run, then I'm going to support Edwards-Clark '08. If Al decides to run then its "full steam ahead"!

11. If Al Gore decides to run, he will run as if Earth depended on it, because it does
This would be no singular ambitious goal driving him to run so much as his love for humanity. If the media still insists on trashing and slandering him at that point, they will be killing their own families, not saying they won't do it anyway, but that's the upshot.

19. He is the most prescient political leader regardless of party
on what I believe to be the primary threat against life as we know it. Not only was he first, he is by far the most knowledgeable regarding this threat and the solutions needed to change the global suicidal path we are on.

Not to say, there aren't other good Democratic Leaders, but Al Gore is head and shoulders above the competition in my book, and the stakes are too great to trust a second stringer on this subject.

14. I don't think he will run, but if he does it will have to be on a platform of
our getting out of Iraq. He was right on Iraq from the beginning and would bring tremendous weight to that argument--much more than somebody who, for instance, voted for the Iraqi resolution, and now says they wouldn't have.

16. Watched Al on Oprah After The Show This Week
and when an audience member mentioned he should run again - on his global warming iniative - he said he had fallen out of love with politics that it was too "acidic" - and that his passion was the environment and its cause - the audience applauded. He didn't rule it out - but I have my doubts he'll run. He'd certainly get my vote if he did.

17. Of course, he has to say that
because if he announces he's running, or even that he's considering it, everything becomes about the campaign.

So whatever he decides can wait for quite a while — and I agree that politics in the US has become a swamp. But who better to drain it?

21. I sincerely think Al is the best we have
Edited on Mon Jan-08-07 12:51 PM by Zodiak Ironfist
He has been out of politics. He has cut himself loose of his handlers and his corporate puppet strings. He has remade his image and is now popular across the aisle (even Republicans in Southern states would vote for him...at least the ones I know). His movie has been widely seen and widely hailed by Americans of all stripes. He has shown his economic populism and his passion for the environment.

And most importantly, he is the ONLY figure I know of whom all Democrats agree would be an excellent candidate. You will not find such broad support within the party for anyone else.

It is a win-win.....all we have to do is wait for him to run.

And if he runs and wins, it will be justice because this country voted for him in the first place and were cheated by the SCOTUS. What better way to end this horrible Bush experience than by restoring the rule of law?

That's my pro-candidate speech. For the record, I am "Gore-Edwards-Clark-Obama-Kucinish-Kerry-the rest of the field" in the order of my current primary preferences. I won't be criticizing anyone on this list (except the "rest of the field") unless they step out of line with supporting the American people.

23. Step 1: Don't take any calls from Rahm Emanuel or Al From offering their services
He would have won in 2000 (well, he did, but you know what I mean) if he talked the kind of talk he did after the election: straight-forward, non-focus-group-tested language. He is the most capable man for the job, he is an excellent speaker and communicator, he is a veteran of the Republican Smear Machine, and of course, he's already won once, he can do it again, and this time without an extra-marital blowjob overshadowing his campaign.

I've been wanting Gore to enter the race to save us from the overly calculating Hillary and the overly-hyped Obama. Run, Al, Run.

25. Gore doesn't deserve the presidency...
...just because he was cheated out of it in 2000. The travesty of 2000 has absolutely nothing to do with it. Gore deserves the office because of the man he has become since then.

40. Amen.. I almost voted Nader because I didn't like his campaign then...
... when he was running more on how he was "not Bill Clinton", instead of running as himself! Towards the end he started to discover the grass roots to help him get more strength at the polls, and I think that alienated the DLC that helped handpick his "not Clinton" running mate Lieberman for him. I still wonder if the DLC dropped the ball on really helping him win then too, since he wasn't who they thought they wanted at the start of the campaign then.

This time around, if he runs as the people's president, as I really believe he's learned from his experience and can be that entity, I'll be behind him 100%.

26. When's Best Time For Him To Announce?
I'd say he should wait until summer to even indicate he's considering a run. I think he is the only candidate who could delay his entry into the race, yet be an instant contender once he did.

If he wanted to maximize dramatic effect, he could choose to do it on February 25, assuming a victory for "An Inconvenient Truth" at the Academy Awards. I'm guessing it would be the first time ever an Academy Award Winner has announced their candidacy for President Of United States while accepting the Oscar.

I think it would cause lots of people to fall out of their chairs if he chose to do it that way, although I think politically he should wait another few months and let the current candidates duke it out until then.

That would give him and his team about 5-6 months to prepare for the first Primary in January 2008.
