Why do 5-year-olds need to know the Democrative platform? Plus, the illustrations stink.

By all means, instill your kids with your values - that's your job. But you don't need a crappy book to do it with.

It's incredibly precious and superior. Plus, it's lacking in specifics. One of my kids is very interested in my politics and is always quizzing me about it -- wisely, he seems unable to believe it can possibly be THAT one-sided. His grandparents are Republican and he doesn't want to think they're EVIL people who don't want children to go to school.

So I've had to teach him very carefully that being a Democrat is not a matter of BAD and GOOD but of having very specific desires for government.

22. same in our house. it is always talk in respect to republicans. they

love their republican family and i will not slight them, make them less or create a bogey man out of them. i have had to be objective and honest talking to my boys in politics. and my wont see all one sided either. to this day my 11 yr old will say, not that the democrats are all right either. and he has his points. free thinker. and this is a dude that sees the mess the repugs create and causes him anxiety. he wants dems in.

I would prefer an independent, free-thinker as opposed to someone that thinks Democrats are good because daddy says so.

Books should spark a discussion with small children--be a springboard for discussion. Not just, "Here kid, remember this and believe it."

I think this is as dumb as that "liberals are under my bed" book. Children don't need political indocrination this early. Let them enjoy the care free, fun years of their life while their still young and innocent.

21. dont like it, not even, not a little bit. i would use it more to teach child how

people stereotype and i would be teaching my children the other side. telling them things are not so black and white and this kind of thinking does us little good but create battle. how they are conditioning children and never allow that. i would use this as an example to watch out for, regardless if i agreed with positions. i think it is horrible, personally. and i would never be teaching this crap to my children so young. my child was way beyond this by four, five latest.... probably four. so what... i would be giving it to him at baby to three? wrong wrong.
