These numbers are all over the place...

Poll: Americans Split On Troop 'Surge'
But Most Don't Think Increase In Troop Levels Will Help Stabilize Baghdad

NEW YORK, Jan. 8, 2007

(CBS) Americans are nearly evenly divided on the idea of a short-term increase in U.S. troop levels in Iraq – which President Bush is widely expected to call for when he announces his new strategy for the war later this week.

In the latest CBS News poll, 45 percent are in favor of the so-called troop "surge," while 48 percent are opposed.

However, most Americans – 55 percent – don't think a troop increase would actually help stabilize Baghdad; 35 percent think it would.

1. in favor of escalation but don't think it will help?
35% think it will help stabilize
45% are in favor of escalation
45-35 = 10% want escalation but don't think it will do anything.

if you are one of these americans, YOU ARE AN IDIOT.

2. huh? the numbers don't match
how can 45% be for it, if 55% believe a decrease is the way to go.

It doesn't make sense.

9. How about this one....45% are for it, but only 35% think it will help.
LOL

In other words, at least 10% of the population have no sense of reason whatsoever.

3. Let me get this straight...
45% are in favor of a troop surge, 48% opposed, but in your stats below the text, it says that U.S. Levels in Iraq should be decreased 59% Increased, 18%. What's up with that?

4. Oh--They're talking about a "short-term" troop increase.
Too bad so many people either weren't around, or don't remember, the short-term troop surges they had in Vietnam. There won't be anything "short-term" about it.

Check out the CBS Poll from 1/3/07 that registers 72% of folks disapprove of the way Shrub is handling the situation with Iraq.

http://www.pollingreport.com/iraq.htm

And this poll from CNN last month that showed only 11% support a "surge."

7. They seem to be missing one more important question:
"Would you be willing to send YOUR child into Iraq."
