6. Right, but after "careful" consideration he can then claim that he worked with the Dems and
will only send 9,000 troops. This way he still gets to look tough, he gets to send more troops, and he can say that he compromised with Congress. They said this was all a political manuever in the beginning, so why wouldn't they blow smoke to make themselves look good now?

I thought the military had told him all they have ready to deploy are 9k. That leaves him 11k short.

12. They get the by keeping troops there longer
Those scheduled to come home will end up staying longer.

Also, the shortages can be proven by my own family story. My brother will have just arrived in Kuwait, he flew out last night. he is a RETIRED naval officer. He retired ten years ago, got married, started a family and now a decade later they decide they need him and he has to go to the middle east for a full year deployment.

Bush is destroying our military, slowly but surely.

5. But on CNN the headlines say Bush is only sending 10,000
It's all a bunch of propaganda bullshit. It's all lies. The ONLY point is to drag it out for two years, no matter how many troops are there. This is nothing but a stall. 100%. Kill more kids to protect Bush's legacy.

15. This "surge" talk is all about moving the line of debate. That's *it*.
Edited on Mon Jan-08-07 06:21 PM by Marr
I don't think Bush really cares if they actually increase the number of troops in Iraq. His goal, as usual, is political. He's changed the subject from "should we be there at all?" to "should we commit more troops?".

There's nothing to win in Iraq- anyone can see that. The Bush Administration simply wants to maintian the status quo until they leave office in a couple of years.

18. Will somebody ask the pretender-in-chief where and how he came
up with that number. He pulls a number out of his ass and no one (read.. media) questions the number. They just call it a surge (Bushie words).
