Is there some kind of rule that says he has to be there for business to continue? WTF is going on? Anyone know?

1. Yeah, why can't
he just miss a day? Having all of the House take the day off because one guy wants to watch a football game is silly. Besides, isn't the game on in the evening?

3. I realize there were more congressmen that went to this game than
Boener, but I heard at least ONE was a Dem. Stephanie Tubbs Jones I think. I know everyone is blaming it all on Boener, but my guess is that all the Ohio Reps wanted to attend. Sure they could have continued business without them, but since this is the first real day of Congress, Idon't have a problem with what the Dems did. I would expect the sameresponse for the Super Bowl.

Starting tomorrow, get your damn a**es to work!

4. I wouldn't be surprised
if most of the Florida delegation wanted to go to the game as well. Those two states have two of the larger Congressional delegations.

5. my guess is boner et al knew about the impending somalia attack
and the fuckin' football game shizzit was a ploy to put the Dems off one day from beginning to crank up the heat on bush and the rest of the war criminals.

Want to take bets on how quickly we will see a preening bush pushin' a "the dems are with us or again' us" bullshit line to try to take the wind out of the Dems' sails. After all, we are bombing them there so we don't have to bomb them here.

:sarcasm:

we will also doubtless hear a string of bushbots pumping a "we had to finish clinton's mess" line also, to try to paint the Dems as soft on terra. What fuckers. All a nice prelude toward catapulting the propaganda. And anyone want to take bets on how long it will now take before bush pulls OBL out of his ass?

6. There was freshman orientation today
that is partly the reason they took the day off.

Let me get the link...

7. link
"And next Monday is out since the House, despite Democratic pledges of a disciplined five-day work schedule, will not be in session. The day off was scheduled to allow freshman lawmakers time to return from an orientation session — and others to attend the college football national championship game."

Here's a link to the full article: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/03/washington/03cong.htm ...

other DUers found this first- I'm just reposting.

8. I could just imagine all the repuke whining had they worked today..
Edited on Mon Jan-08-07 08:26 PM by ruiner4u
Not taking into consideration that there was freshman orientation, since the MSM wont hype that little tidbit.

Had congress been in session today, I can almost hear rush and hannity screaming "Pelosi slighted the minority leader!", "Wouldn't let the minority leader attend a game important to him", "DEMS SLIGHT OHIOANS!" etc etc etc...

With these talking fat-heads, you're damned if you do, and damned if you don't..

Oh and please realize I am being sarcastic...

-edit- for above disclaimer...:)
