Why should Americans pay for a "Billion Dollar Jobs Program for Iraqi's?"
What the hell is going on here. I thought we already gave our TAX DOLLARS TO HELP UNEMPLOYED IRAQI's?

22. You break it, you bought it
If this world was fair, the costs for invading Iraq illegal would be way higher not to mention the war crimes.

3. Bush** is way generous with our money
But now is not the time for that, even if we could trust this next injection of funds to actually be spent properly rather than wind up like the still unaccounted for BILLIONS already lost over there.

4. For one reason because we destroyed their country
and their economy and killed a half million of their people. Believe me, I could use a little help myself but I feel a moral obligation to those who have been harmed in my name.

10. I agree with what you say, but if you could like at it from a different angle...
There would be jobs out the yang if we--military & foreign contractors--were to leave Iraq. Until then reconstruction will be an excercise in futility and a huge waste of money--regardless of whose money it is.

19. You're probably correct
which is why the oversight that I expect beginning now SHOULD remedy that to some extent. This will be especially true if the war profiteering bill passes. But understand that I hate this as much as anyone, but none of us are suffering like the people in Iraq.

12. But that's not the point. The point is, what have they been doing all these years?
BILLIONS of OUR dollars have been sunk into Iraq. One would have hoped that our "leaders" would have been smart enough to do obvious things with that money, like establish "jobs programs".

Yet, just NOW we're being asked to poney up more to START a "jobs program"? Excuse me -- uh, if you guys haven't already been doing this, then just what have you been spending all this SPECIAL! SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION! RECONSTRUCTION! money on?

Fuck this shit! We should put MORE money in the hands of the very same people who have already totally fucked up this whole idiotic project from the very beginning?!?! No thanks.

Get out NOW. THEN send carefully audited and scrutinized money to carefully selected and audited and scrutinized projects.

17. No argument, but we allow this monkey to stay in office
and the Iraqi people should not be the ones to pay the price for that.

18. Why should average Americans pay for what Bush/NeoCons DID in Destroying
their Country? What about all of us who MARCHED BEFORE THE INVASION...and AFTER TO STOP IT? Are WE TO BE HELD TO BLAME FOR BUSH POLICIES? :grr:

You can see I'm really worked up about this. :-(

21. In my estimation yes, we are to blame. I marched right alongside
you, but we did not succeed. That's why we turned over the congress in the hopes that we could fix this. Democracy (in name) means that we all pay the price regardless of our position. And boy have we paid.

from everywhere BUT Iraq.

If we'd done this 3 years ago it might have made a difference, but now it just provides the insurgenst with more targets. They know it full well already - work for or with the Americans and you will eventually get shot at, if not kidnapped and murdered on the way to or from work.

ON EDIT: The same applies to those who would administer the funds - the so-called government of Iraq.

16. Incredible...almost Four Years Down Road for WAR and they want More $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$'s
from us Taxpayers to do a "Job Corps" for Iraqi's?

I thought we "Invaded Iraq" to get rid of WMD...and Saddam...didn't know we would DESTROY their COUNTRY and then give them "Jobs, Healthcare and Motivation!"

Besides the Iraqi Middle and Upper Class have already LEFT IRAQ being smart like us DU'ers and knowing their kids would have NO FUTURE THERE!

I'm all for helping the poor and disenfranchised but it seems AMERICA is FILLED with so MANY WHO NEED HELP that I can't understand helping Iraqi's that we INVADED MORE than American Appalachian Coal Miners and Sons and Daughters of those who are still dealing with "Dot Com Implosion" and Downsizing and Outsourcing and all the rest of the BUSH ECONOMY IMPLOSION for the MIDDLE CLASS!

There is SOMETHING VERY WRONG HERE!!!!

20. I would support this if I believed the money was really going...
...to ordinary people.

After wrecking Iraq, we owe them.

But the Bush Administration is so corrupt, that the money would probably go to American Bush cronies instead.

I don't.
It's just more graft for this boondoggle. Just sounds better to say we are creating jobs than stealing money from the treasury. It also seems that there are some Americans who will buy it.

26. Hey, Baby Bush, reverse all those tax cuts for your rich buddies and then
you can give some of it to the Iraqii people who are deserving of so much more including YOUR full apology for invading and destroying much of their country and infrastruture. "You" should also pay damages to the families of all the Iraqiis that you killed.
