I don't want to get mushy or anything, but believe that if DU had not been here for me to read over the past few years, I would have gone nuts.

Look. Almost 100 thousand user registrations! How many people does that translate to over the past few years who have been influenced and educated over that time? Maybe millions!

I know that I have not provided many, if any, informative posts since joining. I tend to be more on the emotional side of things, but really appreciate every damn informative post I have read on here over the years. Thankfully, most of my posts, probably this one included, sink fast because there are so many quality posters out there/here. You people are truly amazing.

I might not be able to post again for a while, but wanted to send kudos to all who make this site what it is. Thanks from the bottom of my emotional heart for providing all that info and all those links.

I just wanted you to know that I, and probably millions of others truly appreciate, and support, what you do so well.

Keeping on top of the fast moving events has been so helpful when speaking to friends and freepers. It is very empowering to know what you are talking about. DU has helped me do that.

I feel just the same as you. And I too am about to unplug my computer to make a big move. I just sold my house, and don't even know where I'm going.


The self-checking and self-correcting ability of the forum is a phenomenon to behold. And the power of combined experiences. Hardly any of us would be here together. But here we are, all together.

thanks for the concern, but I have to take care of a family member with some serious, terminal, health issues, and he will be ending his radiation next week and returning to his home town for the first time in many, many weeks. I will have to keep an eye on things for awhile, and have to live in his world which doesn't include a lot of things. He lives in the middle of a bunch of nothingness.

You're right about that. I've got friends that have neither the time nor inclination to join, but I'm constantly sending tidbits from here, and they really appreciate it, and in many cases pass them on.

22. DU save my sanity

It seemed everyone was telling me:

Abortion is murder.
The US is a Christian country.
Morals = not having sex.
Evolution is iffy or outright not true.
We have no right to question the government/president.

I was starting to doubt everything wonderful I'd learned about this country. When I found DU, I realized I wasn't crazy.

(DU also turned me onto Randi Rhodes (pre-AAR). The first liberal talk radion I'd ever heard.)
