Fears that porpoises are starving
http://www.theherald.co.uk/news/78422.html

Global warming may mean harbour porpoises, Europe's smallest cetacean, are starving to death in the North Sea around Scotland.
While the porpoises don't mind warmer waters, their main source of food, the sandeel, does and is becoming less abundant.
Researchers say this means less to eat and a higher risk of starvation.
Research on seabirds has shown there is a strong link between breeding success, survival and the abundance of the sandeels (small fish) they eat.

1. Many, many species will be extinct within the next 100 years
Those than can adapt will survive. Some will thrive in the warmer climate. But many will be history.

4. exactly right, and the fact that the international community is not addressing this reality . . .
as a MAJOR environmental crisis is beyond my comprehension . . .

in fact, the failure of governments and peoples to stop massive corporations from raping the earth, polluting the air and water, and altering the global climate in pursuit of ever-increasing profits will go down in history as humankind's greatest failing . . . ever . . .

if there IS any more history, that is . . .

2. Our poor oceanic cousins
will need to adapt to survive.

They have no choice.

The gray whales are apparently starting to do so, with varying degrees of success.
