7. Tired Is Not The Word
Not sure what the correct word is. Tired, exasperated, disgusted, exhausted, weary, drained, infuriated, incensed, none of the words seems to capture what I feel. Perhaps, the word has not yet been invented to describe how waiting 7 years for the rest of America to catch on to the downfall of America and that this imperialistic motivated administration is responsible for. My son was eleven when Bush was 'S'elected the first time. He just turned 18 and got his Selective Service registration 5 days ago. I fought my best against everything this administration has done since before they took office (including there theft of the White House) and my son stood beside me as we protested the invasion of the Middle East for what were obvious lies. Even though so many were fooled at the time, I always thought they would come to their senses and stop this nonsense soon. Now my son is actually eligible to be drafted into this idiocy and this administration would love to escalate it too include Iran.

No, none of the words above suffice to describe what I feel about the mess Americans have allowed this administration to make.

8. I never thought it would get THIS crazy.
Every single day I am horrified and, like you, I saw it coming in 99. As soon as his name was mentioned in the primary, I was like, here we go... UNBELIEVABLE it has gone on this long. My mother in law told me tonight, she is afraid for her grandsons being drafted, 14 and 8. SCARY.
IMPEACHMENT may be our only hope. Even then, who knows anymore?

9. Horrified!! That Is Close!
Not quite adequate, but close. I actually wanted to move as soon as they invaded Iraq and I meant it but my family thought I was crazy. We finally compromised on if they start a war with Iran which I have always been sure they would. I may get to move yet but I wonder what country will want Americans or if Bush would even let us out.

10. There is always...
Hugo's fine country and I have to admit, it has crossed my mind. And CANADA, of course. They claim to still love us...

11. I Find It Hard To Trust Any Government Now
I have always been liberal but I was quite patriotic too (4th was my favorite holiday). Funny, they seemed to me to go together before Faux News came along. Canada has always been great but I see some of the same trends we have gone through happening there and that scares me a bit. And the last time we visited (2 years ago) they didn't seem very welcoming. We went for a vacation and the border guard kept asking us about guns. I said we didn't have any and she wanted to know where we kept them then(as if every American owns guns). The questioning about guns went on till finally she asked what other weapons we had. I said "Bear Spray" (we were camping and I never used it) and she acted like she had caught me. She told me, quite disdainfully, that we'd would have to pull over and turn it in because they don't allow weapons in Canada. I was amazed and asked if her if they didn't have bears in Canada. She replied, that they do but they don't "spray" them. I was allowed to keep it after pulling over and attempting to turn it in. But, you could sure tell what she thought of us. As for Hugo. I think, I'd wait a while to see what happens there.

3. I have been wearing a tee shirt that reads "Bush Lied", "They Died"
with 2,820 names on it.

And I have had incredible response to it.

Almost exclusively positive.

12. Great Shirt
And the one they have tried to make illegal. By the time Bush is done, if they have their way, the shirt will be a dress. Of course, it already would need to be if they included all the innocent Iraqis that have been killed. And if we added the maimed, it would have to be a ???

5. The GOP has shown a stunning lack of sensitivity
Edited on Wed Jan-10-07 03:04 AM by Erika
I guess it's Snow's "comma". How very horrible for our country to be so insensitive to our own and others. W carried out all his 24 Xmas parties in good cheer. The bastard.

13. At some point
Americans will get fed up enough to demand an end to this madness. Until then, bodies will continue to pile up.

15. One Thing We Can Be Sure Of If History Is A Guide Is That
it won't mean that much to the majority of Americans. Just like the total number of dead didn't mean that much to us when we were taught how mant died in the Civil War, it will just be a number to most. What I am surprised at is how it doesn't seem to matter to us now. I was a kid during Vietnam but I remember people being very sensitive to the soldiers deaths. I saved my own money to donate and get a POW bracelet. Sadly. today noone even wants to talk about the sacrifices being made for Cheney's pockets.
