Escalation or surge?

Bush prefers to say "surge." He seems to like that word a lot.
Could it be that the word "surge" -- when associated with the idea of crew-cutted young men in fatigues -- makes him excited?

I think Bush - or whichever idiot adviser chose the word - thinks surge shows strength. That people will hear strength and overpowering force...yet all I hear is death and more death.
