In Washington, defense officials said only they had conducted one strike on a northern area with a U.S. Air Force AC-130 gunship and they are fairly certain Abu Talha al-Sudani, a Sudanese associate of Osama bin Laden, was killed.
But in Mogadishu rumors are that as many as 50 people, including children, were gunned down, a Washington Post correspondent reported.

The people are not greeting us with flowers here, either.
