Write your own Bush "surge" speech of "poetic language"
I'm the boss
You pay the cost
It's your loss

I stay the course without remorse
I'm the great decider

I have the urge
for little surge
and no one can defy me

So shop til you drop
And don't forget Somalia

God Bless!!

1. A soldier quoteth
Was it yours to lose?

pisses me off his gums won't stop a flappin'

if it be but poetry, it ain't no prose

While around our head and shoulders our life falls in ruins

Not mine, it was done by the Heretical Rhyme Generator!

5. A limerick...

There once was a guy named bin Laden,
whom many had all but forotten.
"...Determined To Strike..."
poor George fall of his bike,
Banged his head,
So he said,
"I'll get Saddam."

6. Haiku
My plan is to surge
In case you were wonderin'
Same as the old plan

Somehow it lends itself better to limerick.

There was a dry drunk at the wheel
His tires were beginning to squeal
He crashed and he burned
But he never learned
Cause he's not even able to feel

Edited on Wed Jan-10-07 11:15 AM by TechBear_Seattle
The terr'ists hate America, that is sure.
And so we surge and take the fight to where
They are, lest they return and bring it here.
We shall prevail because our hearts are pure.
And thus reluctantly I do announce
That troop deployments now must be increased
Though this will swell the ranks of the deceased
Whose sacrifice the Democrats denounce.
I'm the Decider, and I am here to tell
That I am done Deciding. We will stay
And hold our course. There is no way
This conflict of our making we can't quell.
I'M the President, what I say goes.
And I say we'll have vict'ry o'er our foes.

Sonnets: the only real form of English poetry. :hi:

Edited to fix scansion and title

21. Here's mine:

This dictatorship is mine,
Pay attention, y'all...
I will do as I damn well please,
It's never been your call.

First, there was Bin Ladin,
"Dead or alive" I think I said...
But there was quite a different plan,
Rolling around my empty head.

Let's go after Saddam instead,
That will make the sheeple glad...
He's one bad mother*****,
And besides, he dissed my dad.

The Iraqi people will welcome us,
Throwing flowers at our feet...
We'll be in and out in no time,
Our victory will be sweet.

I hadn't really thought so much,
that there might be folks in Iraq...
Who wouldn't want us taking over,
and instead would fight us back.

So far three thousand brave souls have died,
That number's sure to mount...
And all those innocent citizens, you ask?
Not to worry, they don't count.

Trust me, I'm your president,
A surge to foreign soil...
Will insure that freedom marches on,
(Not to mention all that oil.)

So, I'll be sending more troops to Iraq,
That's really all we need...
You're just a bunch of whiny liberals,
who don't want me to succeed.

25. Governor Georgie pudding and pie
Said, "Why can't lots more people die?"
He killed 152,
But felt that it was far too few.

President Georgie pudding and pie
Started a war based on a lie.
He murdered thousands as sadly we knew,
But still thought it was far too few.

President Georgie pudding and pie
Wants a surge, so more can die.
The world would like to loudly say,
"GEORGIE PORGY GO AWAY!!!!"

31. Good afternoon, dear citizens
I have some news for you all
Another mother's child will fall
We must stay the course in this war
You've seen this movie before.
It was called "Vietnam"- but I didn't see it in the theater
So I've created the sequel for all my fellow cheaters

Good evening.

I've created a surge
My own party, it will purge
all those yellowbellied elephants, watch em run like scuds
McCain and I- we're now new buds.

Democrats and I don't have to get along
I'll just sing my same darn song
I don't watch the polls at all
But Barney's told me that they've started to fall.

33. 'The Surge of Sacrifice'
If in some smothering dreams you too could pace
Behind the wagon that we flung him in,
And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,
His hanging face, like a devil's sick of sin;
If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,--
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori.

Somehow, I don't think that's the poem he'll quote from, though.

Put a rhyming couplet at the end and you have a sonnet. Your work?

36. Not mine at all - it's the last stanza of "Dulce Et Decorum Est"
by Wilfred Owen - probably the best known British First World War poem:

http://www.english.emory.edu/LostPoets/Dulce.html

The details of the gas attack didn't seem to fit the soldier's experience in Iraq, that's all.

40. One of the greatest war poems; but if Bush does quote a First World War poem...
it would be more likely to be this one:

Base Details

IF I were fierce, and bald, and short of breath
I'd live with scarlet Majors at the Base,
And speed glum heroes up the line to death.
You'd see me with my puffy petulant face,
Guzzling and gulping in the best hotel,
Reading the Roll of Honour. `Poor young chap,'
I'd say -- `I used to know his father well;
Yes, we've lost heavily in this last scrap.'
And when the war is done and youth stone dead,
I'd toddle safely home and die -- in bed.
