10,000 Al Gore tickets sold out in Boise
I expected to swing by the Select a Seat outlet in Albertsons on my way home from work Monday night, and pick up a couple of tickets to see Al Gore's address at the Frank Church Conference on Global Warming at Boise State University on January 22.

My bad. After the initial tickets were rapidly snapped up, the venue was changed from a conference room in the Student Union building to the Taco Bell Arena (speaking of greenhouse gases). All ten thousand tickets for the event were sold out by 3 pm Monday. Even though Boise is more of a purple dot in a neon red state, for this many to respond so enthusiastically I believe speaks volumes. Whether Boiseans are more concerned with global warming or are simply drawn to the rock star aura, I don't know. But it kind of makes me think the support he might garner in similar purple or even red areas may be much greater than many realize. And yeah, much as I hate to speculate on '08, I do mean that kind of support.

1. Boise is a happening place... Had the best bloody mary I've ever tasted in Boise...

(except the ones I make). Its one of the fastest growing cities in the country as well as top job growth. It's a beautiful city with a small town feel about it. My fiancee and I drove through last summer. Problem is, you leave the city limits and it feels like you are in the middle of no where and it quickly turns very conservative. Idaho is also known for its white supremacist groups. Lots of good ol boys running around with big guns. Makes me wander what they are making up for?

5. Idaho drummed out the supremacists not long after Ruby Ridge
but it's a negative stereotype the state will probably be saddled with for a very long time.

9. Idaho recently licensed Naturopathic Physicians and kicked the UNd's off the board....
Edited on Wed Jan-10-07 03:00 PM by Danieljay
so they can't be all bad! (UNd's is Licensed Naturopathic Physician term for so called unlicensed "Naturopathic Doctors" that never went to an accredited medical college, usually getting a 'doctorate degree' online or having no degree at all).

Anyway, thanks for the update regarding the bad reputation Idaho once had.

Boise Rocks, another milestone for progressives in Idaho.

3. I'm glad people have caught on to the seriousness of Gore's effort and are not
going to let the corporate media's disrespectful portrayal of him overrule common sense.

4. Go Al! Gore '08!!!
I believe Al could easily sweep the nation in '08, with the same popularity momentum reminiscent of RFK in 1968. The people are ready and wanting for a good guy like Al Gore. Like RFK, however, I fear for Al's safety. As long as Cheney, Rummy and especially Poppy Bush and his rogue gang of CIA operatives are still alive, the good amongst us have much to fear.
