3. I can't tell you how many people have been telling me that Ponti was dead
for years. I would tell them that he was alive, and they would argue with me.

I think the Ponti's have a ranch in Thousand Oaks, California, my neck of the woods. My friend Joe tells me that he always sees her at an Italian market in the area.

Ciao, Carlo.

5. I've always heard that Sophia Loren was pretty friendly...
and doesn't take herself too seriously.

6. I wonder if his longevity
had anything to do with being married to the sexiest woman on the planet(perhaps). I know hubby likes her, no matter how old she gets!

Italian film producer Ponti dies

Carlo Ponti and Sophia Loren in 1966

Obituary: Carlo Ponti
Italian film producer Carlo Ponti, the husband of actress Sophia Loren, has died in Geneva at the age of 94.

He produced a number of classic films including Federico Fellini's La Strada, David Lean's Dr Zhivago and Michelangelo Antonioni's Blowup.

Ponti was admitted to hospital about 10 days ago for pulmonary complications, the family said in a statement.

Ponti married Loren in 1957 when she was just 22 but the marriage was later annulled. They remarried in 1966.

"He died overnight," Loren's niece Alessandra Mussolini said. "It was a peaceful death, there was not a particular problem.

"His wife and children were with him. Sophia has always been with him throughout."

8. Arrivederci, Signor Ponti.
Oddly, I was just talking about Sophia Loren at work today. My coworker did not know who she is.
