Per bowtie boy, Senator Brownback, just back from Iraq, is against
the 'escalation'. I think it's important to keep track of what the rethugs are thinking for future reference. Sounds like the party is a bit divided. ;-)

1. Somebody tell CNN/Faux/et al. -- 'DIVIDED REPUBLICANS"!!!
All I've seen -- even since the election -- is "divided" Democrats (B.S.!).

2. HOLY FUCK! He's like Mr. Conservative!
:wow:

This means Bush is toast. I remember hearing Trent Lott say he was against a surge!

:wow:

5. Thanks, deminks, and for the record, I think Brownback is still in Iraq.
I did google breaking news a few times, but didn't find anything on his decision.

6. That's good news. Brownback is from the fundie wing of the party,
and up to now they've been supportive of the war. If he's turning against it now, others will probably follow. Maybe he's thinking about his presidential aspirations now...

7. It could also be, since he's over there, he's being told some truth
and seeing things most aren't privy to. I imagine that's what happened to Coleman.

10. Brownback seems to have more curiosity about other countries
than many other RW types. But it's rare for him to stick his neck out and oppose the Prez. I think he's trying to distance himself a bit, in preparation for his own run.

I'm still uneasy about him as a candidate. I'd like to think he's too far "out there" (too radical, too reactionary, too religious) to stand a chance, but it's hard to say anymore.
