2. Thanks for that!
Notice the high concentration in Los Angeles. I wonder why that is... hmmm... oh, wait. Brown people. Got it. All the sweet talking about citizenship no doubt.

4. I noticed that too
Seems that the majority of these casualties have come from blue states.

5. Oh, please.
The highest concentrations are exactly on top of the highest population centers. Which is to be more or less expected. This is sad and infuriating enough without bringing bogus race-baiting into it. Locate a chart that suggests a racial discrepancy and you'll have something to talk about then.

Transferring Cost of War to Latin America is Morally, Politically Wrong

U.S. officials learned one lesson from the Vietnam War it is that opposition at home to U.S. military intervention abroad grew as American casualties mounted. Now officials have found a way around this problem: In Iraq, U.S. contractors are recruiting people from poor Latin American countries to carry out security tasks.

http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0129-24.htm

Common knowledge, get with the program.

Same deal with this war and most others where racial numbers are tabulated.

"Prisoners in niggertown its a dirty little war. 3-5-0-0 Take weapons up and begin to kill... "

I'm a white woman, btw, who hates to see brown people killed for "my" sake. This is nothing new. Maybe to you, but it's nothing new.

13. Sure you did. You just didn't recognize them.
They are called Los Angeles, San Bernardino, San Diego, etc.

There are more Latinos in Los Angeles than anyone other group.

14. Immaterial.You're trying to have it both ways.
You can't claim an ethnic imbalance using evidence from other countries and then say the same data applies to Los Angeles with no further supporting evidence.

16. Seems you are more interested in scolding me than using common sense
Even if you used a mean average for Los Angeles, you would end up with far more Latinos.

I have no desire to explain the obvious.

18. L.A. isn't the only city on that map with a high concentration.
There's a pretty dense cluster around lily-white Portland, and one around Denver, too, for example. Smaller than the one around L.A., sure, but they're far less populous areas. Your attempt to imply that the military is a big-whitey conspiracy to eliminate the mud people is really, really ridiculous.

And hell yeah, I'm scolding you, you're using irrelevant data to prove a laughable point.

I was using the expression sardonically. I'm disappointed that I should have to explain that.

25. The casualties are FOR THE US MILITARY
not Halliburton.

So casualties originally from Colombia will not be on the map

Kids growing up in SE LA join up in higher concentrations not becuase they are latino, but becuase they are promised a way out

Perhaps what yuo are seeing is not race, but economic draft

Too bad I have to explain this to you.

Btw, my husband was part of that ecnonomic draft when he hoined the navy over 20 years ago. He is neither latino, or african amiercan, or anything else, just from a disadvantaged family.

Lord there are days...

29. Well, I don't get why, then.
I've been arguing that:

A) race-based conspiratorial thinking in re Iraq casualties is misplaced and

B) mercenaries from Central America hired privately by contractors aren't counted on the map the OP posted and are immaterial to the US military casualty data.

Since you're saying the same, I'm not really understanding why you're taking me to task here.

Actually, you know what? Don't even bother. I'm going to bed.

19. Although I know for a fact that poor brown people are heavily targeted for recruiting
Edited on Wed Jan-10-07 11:12 PM by RagingInMiami
The following link indicates that the deaths are not only relative to the ethnic breakdown of the military, but to the actual population of the country.

Combat Deaths

Whites - 74.6%
Hispanics - 11 %
Blacks - 9.6%

Total military

Whites - 67%
Hispanics - 9%
Blacks - 17%

U.S. Population ages 18-44

Whites - 75.5%
Hispanics - 14.2%
Blacks - 12.2%

http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/static.php?f=race.php

EDIT: In other words, there is not much difference between poor white people and poor brown and black people. Now if the poor white people of this country can begin to see that, maybe we'll get some serious changes done.

32. Thanks for that
I'm a poor white woman in support of my brown and black neighbors. There's a recruiter in our neighborhood by the name of Martinez who targets Latinos... he's gotten a piece of my mind more than once. I figure if he can set himself up on a high school campus where my kids attend, lily white though they may be, I have every right to blast him for enabling the murder of his people and I curse him, telling him that the souls of his murdered brothers and sisters will haunt him all his days. I try a gentler tact when I encounter Latino neighbors with Bush stickers on their broken down cars... so sad. Someone has fed them a load of bullshit.

Marked with all the deaths that America is responsible for. Would we then look at the "terrorists" differently?

Get over trying to find additional insidious plots and just focus on the travesty at hand.
