Reuters: Wal-Mart says supports minimum wage increase
Wal-Mart says supports minimum wage increase

Wed Jan 10, 4:50 PM ET

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said on Wednesday it supported
an increase in the federal minimum wage because it would help working families.

"In October 2005, Wal-Mart CEO Lee Scott publicly called for Congress to raise
the minimum wage to help working families, saying that $5.15 an hour was out
of date with the times," the company said in a statement. "We believe this
statement is truer now than ever before."

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

What's stopping them from offering fair wages voluntarily?

1. that's the thing about the minimum wage
it's more attractive for an employer when it's a law that requires all OTHER employers to do the same.

wal-mart will benefit from non-wal-mart employees having more money to spend. look for a price increase to follow....
