Re-hearing the speech on MSNBC, I think the major guys that I respect,
Olbermann, Russert, Matthews, Williams, this may fly. Try to justify and defend this war.
Why would a withdrawal be catastrophic?

1. It's only a little rush - I think we are being played and they will be
back to full support by Thu eve or Fri am.

2. Perhaps more accurately, why less catastrophic than withdrawal. nt
As I heard one commentator put it many months ago, we simply are not prepared to pay the price to fix what we've broken; and anything short of paying that price will just be wasted. The sooner we come to terms with those facts and start cutting our losses, the better.

6. You think we are?
I'm not saying we shouldn't, from a moral standpoint. I'm saying we won't.

The economy has already taken a huge hit from this war, and "fixing" Iraq would cost several times as much as we've spent destroying it.

3. The warmongers use the catastrophy thing in the same way they
used it in vietnam. I see this war as a refighting the vietnam war. Listen the older guys and the retoric right down to love it or leave it, pinko commies, fight them there so you don't fight them here...
It's the boomers refighting vietnam. And these kids are the fodder used. sad. Wouldnt' it have been easier for them to just go see a therapist?

5. MSNBC team is scared after various meetings with Bush
Bush met with reporters and with lawmakers today. Craig Crawford brought up even more things concerning Bush's comments to lawmakers about Saudia Arabia feeling insecure if we don't surge. We are sending our most elite attack forces, even those now in Afghanistan, to use against the blowback from Iran after we bomb them over some alleged "incident". They keep using term like utter disaster, the end of the American empire, Bush's insistence on using all options to avoid defeat.

Iran also has weapons from China and Russia that would probably prove effective against our naval forces. Are we willing to lose an aircraft carrier?

It was just reported that US forces had attacked several Iranian places in Iraq, including the Iranian consulat. Anyone need fresh cipher codes?
