Really? What is going to propel our glorious economy? A new phone, a item that has been around a hundred years, a new TV , around since mid-century. What will we buy then that we don't make here to send money somewhere else?

1. People can "send money" anywhere they want

if by send money you mean purchase goods and services from whom they please.

2. A slightly nicer gizmo than the one we have
full of features we never knew until just now that we wanted, and may never learn to use.

Duh.

6. I'm sure the list goes on and on...I won't be personally satisfied until
my house is wired to my car and phone with all multimedia in digital form shared among everything I own!

Then...Bush only needs to hack one system to figure out everything about me...SCORE!

8. Nanotechnology. Ever seen a flea circus?
Actually, it's an interesting question. The last time the subject came up it was 1992. What could possibly be the next big thing? It seemed like home computers were all headed to the closet because nobody could find anything to do with them.

11. This is only half the idea!
Steve Jobs and his group at Apple have implemented only half of the real idea between bridging the gap between the computer, the mobile phone, the remote, iPod, Newton, PDA, etc.

This iPhone may be "partly" based on my email to Steve about 4 years ago which asked him to rethink exactly what had not changed in the whole input scenario in all these new gadgets from typewriter to the mobile phone.

Although I am a diehard Apple user for the last 22 years, I do not think this is exactly what I had in mind, but it is getting close, the wrong way around!

There is much more to come from my original concept, which is still under wraps.

13. What COULD we buy? Alternative energy.
We have a chance to attack the energy crisis full-on and create a new economy for this country. I've seen two full-blown sports cars created by silicon valley companies. Both can do 0-60 in about 4 seconds and the worst one has a range of 150 miles on a charge. Electric cars are the way of the future. China is pushing very hard on electric vehicles. Whoever solves the issue of battery technology and efficient electric power through pebble-bed nuclear reactors and solar technology will see significant windfalls.

The iPhone (or whatever you want to call it due to Cisco's new lawsuit) is nothing compared to what we could do - especially when you consider how crappy the battery life will be on this thing.

Do you HAVE to ruin the fun for the rest of us? What the hell good is living if you don't have any fun?
