Historically, an attack on any embassy has been construed as an attack on the soil of the country it represents. The US has always responded to attacks on our embassies as though our nation was attacked. Is the escalation in troop numbers really about securing Iraq, or is it to prepare for yet another front in the Middle East--one that no one in Congress or the people have assented to? In his speech last night, the president stated that he would carry the war to Iran and Syria. Now that the Saudis are backing the Sunni resistance in Iraq, how long until Bush succeeds in creating utter catastrophe in the entire region?
