For Once Dems Won in Framing, We need to do more!!! (must read bloggers and cross posters)
Consistently we Democrats do a horid job of framing the discussion, but for once we may have outsmarted the White House spin machine. More and more I hear the MSM call this an “Escalation” and that is not the framing that George Bush wants. They wanted "Surge", and while it is out there, our word is becoming the norm.

But I want to bring something up, and you all need to heed my advice. The Bush term is done in 2 years (or sooner), and the Republicans are scrambling like mad to put distance between the party and the president. WE CAN NOT ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN!

The Republicans, the Freepers, the Neo-Cons, all of them were enablers of the mess we Americans find ourselves in. He could not have done it without the DO NOTHING Republicans. Every single Republican in the House and Senate stood by while this man ruined America.

So I BEG you, as you write on this forum, that blog, that LTTE and so on make sure that when you say the words BUSH, you tie the Republican Party around his neck. We are not running against Bush in 2008, he is gone, but we are running against Republicans, Republicans that want the American people to forget the Bush presidency and give them another chance. Not on my watch!

I will give you an example

Before:
“George Bush has lead America down a dangerous road that we may not be able to recover from”

After:
“George Bush, and the Republicans Party, has lead America down a dangerous road that we may not be able to recover from”

Or
“George Bush, and his Republican backers, have lead America down a dangerous road that we may not be able to recover from”

Or
“George Bush, and his Republican enablers, have lead America down a dangerous road that we may not be able to recover from”

1. George Bush + Republican Party = one and the same
There is no difference. The GOP has supported Bush, covered up for him, lied for him, manipulated for him, compromised for him.

Iraq is George Bush's war.
Iraq is the Rupublican's war.

They lied for it, cheated to get it, and it's theirs.

3. K&R - excellent points!
We have to hang that *Bush albatross around the GOP's neck, nice and tight so that you can't see where one ends and the other begins.

5. great point - it can't be emphasized enough
I've been trying to do it for 2 years now in trying to tie them together.

Every Republic in Congress should be put on record as in favor of the escalation, or not in favor of it.

8. Bush Happened on their watch, 9/11 happened on their watch... No where to run...
Only McCain is banking on the pro-Bush people, the rest, "Bush who?"

Not on my watch

6. "The party of George W. Bush" "The Bush Republicans" "Bush's Party"
Identify the Repubs with Bush at every opportunity. At all times. They will desperately try to run from Bush in the run-up to '08 when before they adored Him. Throw Bush at them relentlessly.

7. exactly- It is the conservative Agenda we are fighting against, and
CONSERVATIVE AGENDA IS THE ISSUE NOW AND UNTIL 2008. It is far better to stop blaming Bush for the failures and sad situation he has caused, his cronies caused it as well. So by blaming "The Conservatives" you hang them all.

13. I noticed last night that every Dem emphasized the word
"escalation." At one point Feinstein slipped on Larry King Live and said "surge," but immediately revised it to say "escalation." Condi demured when the Senators called it "escalation" today,s aying the adminsitration preferred to consider it an "augmentation," but the senators kept on with their correct use of "escalation."
