TSA Experiments With Security Tray Ads
Just saw this on the news.

LOS ANGELES -- Get ready for more airport ads. Not on terminal walls, but in those little trays where put your keys and cell phone when going through security.

The Transportation Security Administration has been running a six-month test of the new advertising method at Los Angeles International Airport

<snip>

Companies would pay fees to airports and provide the TSA with millions of dollars worth of trays, tables and other non-electronic items used at security points.

Oh boy.

I'm going to be irritated if these ads are not neutral based!

The LAST thing I want to see is a logo for Haliburton or an oil company or
. etc., when I'm loading my shit into the tray after a long wait in the security line!!

And if this advertising plan does save money...I better notice it!

I don't care if it means as little as a penny off of my ticket!!

Otherwise, what's to say the cash won't be funneled toward that lousy war? x(

3. Ahhhh, now think a moment.....
The ads are to be on the trays we use to put our stuff in for screening. Which means our stuff will most likely cover up the ad the moment we place it in the tray and realistically just how long do you interact with the tray --- seconds? Me thinks that any company who buys ad space on these TSA trays is wasting money - big time....

5. Oh, I'd definitely consider advertising if I owned a company,

because people will be looking directly at that ad!

Even if it's for only as second, that image can easily get locked into someone's brain, depending on how clever/eye catching it is.

When ads come on TV, people get up and go to the bathroom, get something to eat, do chores, fast forward if it's on Tivo/DVR.

When ads come on the radio, people switch around and find music.

No, I think it's a good opportunity for business people, depending on the cost.

edit: spelling

4. Nice - a new way to SLOW DOWN the security screening process...
I'm sure they'll cut screeners so "customers" can spend more time viewing ads.

6. Hmmm. I thought people would be more irritated. Judging by the
lack of responses.....I guess not. :)
