This was sent to me by my bible-beating mother, who I think still thinks I believe in Santa Claus, Zeus, and other mythical beings. In any event, it looks like Dobson's christofascist organization doesn't like the provisions in the lobby reform bill that will seriously curtail their ability to rally Xtian letter writing and voter rallies for X. Best if we can kick this bullshit in the ass.
Let's call or write the very representatives targeted in this Dodson mass email and express our SUPPORT of the bill. WE NEED TO FIGHT THIS!!!!!

URGENT MESSAGE
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
This morning, as I was listening to Dr. Dobson on the radio, he informed the radio audience about Senate Bill #1. This bill will stop the Grassroots from knowing what Congress is doing. They do not want any input from the citizens that put them in office. It is an outrageous bill to keep people from knowing what is going on in Congress. Please call Senator Alexander--202-224-4944 and Senator Corker--202—224-3344 and ask them to PROTECT THE PEOPLE’S RIGHT TO KNOW. The bill will be brought up sometimes next week, probably Wed. or Thurs. Please contact as many people as you can and urge them to call immediately. Our nation is at risk of losing the first amendment for free speech. We must speak out and let our elected official know how we feel about such important issues.
If you live in Mississippi please call your Senators. Senator Trent Lot, the new minority leader, is sponsoring this bill with the Democrats. He needs to hear from his voters that they are very displeased with this bill. The phone numbers for their offices are: Senator Trent Lot—202-224-6253, Thad Cockran—202-224-5054.
After you have made these calls you need to call your Representative about the bill for Stem Cell that is being brought before the House today. The numbers for the House offices are (some of the names have changed but the numbers stay the same):
James H. Quillen--202-225-6356, John J. Duncan, Jr.—202-225-5435, Zach Wamp --202-225-3271, Van Hilleary—202-225-6831, ob Clement—202-225-4311, Bart Gordon—202-225-4231, Ed Bryant—202-225-2811, James S. Tanner—202-225-4714, Harold Ford—202-225-3265. I know that Bryant and Ford are not still in office but I don’t know about any of the other Rep. Please let them know that you are against killing babies regardless how old the baby is—one minute or two months in the womb, or embryonic.
The Mississippi Representative are: Roger Wicker—202225—4306, Bennie G. Thompson—202-225-5876, G. V. Montgomery—202-225-5031, Mile Parker—202-225-5865, Gene Taylor—202-225-5772 . The names may have changed but the numbers remain the same.
While we still have representative government, we need to make the effort to let our elected official know how we feel on bills that will affect our country and our lives.
This is another statement about the same situation:
In the Senate, lawmakers are scheduled next week to consider a bill that could strip everyday Americans of their rights to free speech. Some provisions of S. 1 would limit citizens' ability to express their views to the very officials they sent to office to represent them.... Senate Bill 1 (S. 1) aims to clean up recent lobbying scandals that have plagued the halls of our government. While most of the bill is good, it contains a provision, Section 220, that will severely limit the ability of Americans to stay abreast of the important issues facing our country.
Instead of addressing the true lobbying problems – high-paid lobbyists buying influence with members of Congress with international trips and fancy dinners – Section 220 will place the bulls-eye squarely on you.
Section 220 will require that organizations such as Focus on the Family Action that alert Americans to important legislation affecting our country be burdened by miles of new red tape. These bureaucratic restrictions are unconscionable, and failure to comply could result in $100,000 fines....
Focus on the Family Action's Dr. James Dobson is urging you to place phone calls today to your federal lawmakers urging them to prevent this travesty. Call both of your U.S. senators and urge them to oppose the unfair "grassroots lobbying provisions" (Sec. 220) and ensure that they are removed from S. 1. To reach your senators, call the Capitol switchboard at 202-224-3121.
