What is he doing for them during that year? Maybe there should be a rule that says you can't hire onto a lobbying group for a year, not just that you can't lobby.

yep, he's sitting on his ass twiddling his thumbs for a year collecting 6 or 7 figures, not bad for a former auctioneer. For lobbying firms, it's all about the "names". It is an insidious institution and a stain on our democracy if you ask me.
