A lot of Republicans who are in denial about Iraq are now in the anger stage

I caught a few minutes of Rush Limbaugh and our local freeper talk radio today. The amount of anger toward Democrats and the media from Rush and other freepers is at unprecedented levels!

My take on this is that they are finally realizing the War is over and they are feeling hopeless about their belief system. This hopelessness is currently coming out as anger toward us even though they are really mad at themselves. It's sinking in that they were wrong all along and Bush is a failure. They will carry this anger for the rest of their lives unless they ever learn to stop lying to themselves.

4. I've seen that anger on a personal level

with relatives and co-workers. Your comment about their belief system is right. The more coherent among them are realizing they bought into a lie. In order for them to stop this deep-seated anger they must question everything they've believed to be true.

acceptance of the inevitable phase where they may actually come around to some semblance of sanity? Or does the analogy end at the anger stage? I sure would like to see them sane before too much longer. I mean, geez, how stupid can they be and how long can they keep up the denial?

8. Yes there is a further stage

Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross has named five stages of grief people go through following a serious loss. Sometimes people get stuck in one of the first four stages. Their lives can be painful until they move to the fifth stage - acceptance.

Five Stages Of Grief

1. Denial and Isolation.
At first, we tend to deny the loss has taken place, and may withdraw from our usual social contacts. This stage may last a few moments, or longer.
2. Anger.
The grieving person may then be furious at the person who inflicted the hurt (even if she's dead), or at the world, for letting it happen. He may be angry with himself for letting the event take place, even if, realistically, nothing could have stopped it.
3. Bargaining.
Now the grieving person may make bargains with God, asking, "If I do this, will you take away the loss?"
4. Depression.
The person feels numb, although anger and sadness may remain underneath.
5. Acceptance.
This is when the anger, sadness and mourning have tapered off. The person simply accepts the reality of the loss.

9. When I was in Psychology in College....

I would use the acronym DABDA to remember this for the exam. Back to the point, I don't see the freepers ever reaching the bargaining, depression, and lastly the acceptance stage. It will never happen in a million years. And they will perpetually be stuck in the anger stage.......

I hear many of them denying that there was anything wrong with the invasion or the intelligence or any of it. They simply buy into the rationalization that our troops have done their job and that Iraq has to fix their own problem now. They accept no responsibility for this disaster, they just blame Iraq and wash their hands of all the death and destruction, and mountains of debt. I know Democrats concocted this story line, I think it's because they figured out it was the only way some of these right wingers and independents would support troop withdrawal. It still makes my head pop when I actually hear someone repeating it while denying that we caused the mess unnecessarily in the first place.
