Okay, I realize that Bush's total disregard for anything resembling rational thought is unsettling. It's unsettling to everyone with half a brain. But I have to say that taking what is pretty much just more of the same crap we've been hearing for the past several years as some sort of sign or signal that something very, very bad is in the wind seems a little over the top.
From the day of the election, we've had every reason to believe that this administration would spit in the face of Congressional oversight. We've had every reason to think so. I don't take that as a sign of anything other than what we already know. They are immune to reality.
They don't grasp military strategy, or tactics, or even diplomacy. All they understand is the power of brute force, and even that they overestimate to an astonishing degree. If the current strategy isn't working, of course all that's necessary is to throw more force at it. No change in tactics necessary.
I personally think the fearful response by some people grants these assholes entirely too much credit. Bush doesn't know anything vital--he barely knows how to read. And he sure as heck doesn't really know his native tongue.
C'mon people--this sort of panicked "the sky is falling" crap doesn't do anyone any good. It makes us look silly, for one, and is probably weirding out the newbies.
This is just business as usual. Nothing more.
