Mary Landrieu - snookered again
In the face of Holy Joe abandoning Katrina victims, it's interesting to read what Landrieu had to say about him when she helped him campaign last year against Lamont.

"One of the first calls I made after the levees broke was to Joe Lieberman," Landrieu said in a statement. "In a time of national crisis, Joe had the calm, intelligence and compassion to help get me — and our country — through those difficult months."

Lieberman is the ranking Democrat on the Senate's Homeland Security panel, which probed the government's response to Hurricane Katrina and made recommendations on how officials could do a better job.

Landrieu and Lieberman met voters and ate lunch on plastic plates at Hartford's Rajun Cajun restaurant. Landrieu enjoyed the jambalaya. Lieberman had macaroni and cheese.

Every time she tries to cozy up to the right wingers, they screw her over. Wake up, Mary...

5. In the end, pandering doesn't pay.
People like Lieberman aren't interesting in anything but themselves- and they'll turn on you everytime.

6. "Lieberman had macaroni and cheese"....
that's Lieberman, alright. Just like Ned Flanders, "a piece of white bread with a glass of water on the side for dipping". Lieberman....plain white bread, not a bit of spice in him. A freaking turncoat neo-con rat bastard.

9. It may be a matter of dietary laws
Perhaps Lieberman keeps kosher. Macaroni and cheese would be the safest dish, in that case.

15. That's why choice should NOT be in the political arena at all
It muddies the water and allows conservatives to win elections they should never win.

If we can ever get that off the table and back into the homes and doctor's offices where it belongs, politicians could be more accurately judged.

The left kind of does with choice, the same thing that repubes do with the religious thing.

We overlook the overall record because they are on "our side" on that one issue.and of course they rarely ever even legislate on it anyway. It's just an election tool.. like guns, school prayer, and gay marriage.

The legislatures should be forced to eliminate those issues and stick with the stuff that is for the "commons".

11. You are correct

Her voting record is far worse than Liebermen. Her cupie-doll face and the fact that she represents New Orleans makes a lot of people dismiss her as a good-hearted Democrat who was been victimized. Her voting record is similar to any Republican across the aisle, though.

17. She never seems to back the right people up with her votes or praise.
Senator Kerry has helped her a few times and she doesn't repay the favor.
I remember her backing Leiberman very strongly. Seemed he appreciated her help, Huh!

19. no kidding...
And just why DID she support Joe? This happened *before* she endorsed him:

Why is Sen. Landrieu endorsing Sen. Lieberman when he voted against S. 3711, a bill to provide revenue sharing for Louisiana coastal reconstruction from new oil and gas leases?
Sen. Lieberman voted against cloture for the bill (which passed 86-12) and then was a no show for the next two votes but is clearly opposed based on his initial cloture vote?

Sen. Landrieu called S.3711, "It is historic for Louisiana because our state is finally on the road to receiving a sizable portion of the revenue generated from oil and gas production off our shores, The bill (S.3711) gives Louisiana the necessary resources we need to restore our eroding coastline, build strong levees, and protect our people and infrastructure from future hurricane damage."

Joe Lieberman voted against even giving this bipartisan bill a hearing! How is it in Louisiana's interests to have Joe Lieberman in the Senate? To confirm more Michael Browns and vote against the most critical bill for LA in a generation?

Is Sen. Landrieu endorsing Joe Lieberman because they are personal friends? Because Joe Lieberman is no friend of Louisiana.

21. I have said again and again that we need a Democrat in Landrieu's Senate seat.

However, I will give her credit for coming out against the "surge."

I'm hoping that now that the Democrats are in the majority, maybe her vertebrae will stiffen up a bit.
