Webb thanked Gates for coming back into public service, looked forward to work with him, and said that his door was always open.

Webb then made the point about how everything that has happened in the invasion and occupation of Iraq WAS foreseen and foreseeable. Many experts from a variety of fields predicted pretty much everything that has happened.

Webb then pointed out that careers and reputations have been ruined over simply disagreeing in any way with the administration and this was carried out by members of the administration.

Webb then stated that this "new plan" is not new at all but a continuation of a plan that has failed in every measurable way.
