Who's idea was the Iraq Study Group?
Anyone know? I don't.

What was its actual purpose?

Who hired them?

Who paid them?

After the big last push here that doesn't work is the Iraq Study Groups recommendations Bush's way of as gracefully as possible leaving Iraq?

1. The official story is it was Rep. Frank Wolf of VA
Edited on Fri Jan-12-07 02:57 PM by BurtWorm
who was afraid Iraq was a trap Republicans had fallen into and weren't going to be able to get out of unless drastic measures were taken.

5. Rep. Frank Wolf☼ (R-Va.). congress funded $1 million
Iraq Study Group

The Good Earmark
Here's a transparency debate for everyone to have: The Iraq Study Group was created by an earmark inserted into a spending bill by Rep. Frank Wolf☼ (R-Va.). Why did he choose the secretive earmarking process to create this important panel?

“The fact is that there were members of Congress who would have opposed it,” Mr. Wolf said. “Should I have allowed that to stop me from doing what was in the best interest of the country?”
