21. That's exactly what it was.
They bring these suits in the hopes that the person will back down rather than go through a prolonged legal battle, and also in the hopes that people will be afraid to speak out in the future for fear of a lawsuit.

7. Knew it!
Blackwater was just too blatant. Their violations are nothing short of negligent homicide.

Congratulations to a great woman! And thank you Randi!!!

8. No demonstrably false statements.
"Torture. The court finds that Ms Rhode's statements alleging that CACI tortured detainees at Abu Grhaib are not defamatory because the record suggests that these statements are not demonstrably false since, according to the record, CACI employees, in fact, may have engaged in activities that amounted to torture."

Oh. Well there is that.

14. Check out the court's statement starting with item "ii" on page 23 --
- The court is all but agreeing with exactly what Randi had to say about what caused CACI to bring the suit in the first place.

19. I wonder how Lil Ho'Annie's Suits are going
She voted in the wrong precinct and there was a suit (I think) concerning charges of plagiarism. Has Rash, Weiner or Handjobby been sued by a big ol' Corp? I doubt it.

20. ....Just read the whole .pdf. . .
Randi is a smart cookie. I'm not surprised that the whole thing went her way. (How dumb was CACI to even bring the suit?)

23. How many lawsuits has Randi won now? Isn't that the third?
She might not be my favorite Leftie radio personality... but I wouldn't fuck with her when it comes to her job and rights.

24. randi rhodes rocks!
she could have rolled over and avoided the whole thing -- apparently most did.

randi fought and won. she went head to head with a war contractor and their "national security" privileges and f'n won. that was hard fought, be sure.

she should get a lot of credit. she has my thanks.

25. I don't understand the timing here
The decision linked to in the OP and on Randi's website is dated September 21, 2006. I thought that CACI took an appeal. Once Air America filed for bankruptcy protection, there was an automatic stay of all litigation against it, but the bankruptcy court granted CACI permission to pursue its appeal, on the ground that any award to it would be paid by AAR's liability insurance carrier (and so wouldn't affect AAR's creditors).

Was there a decision on the appeal? Why is a September order suddenly treated as news?

27. I heard it-- the subject just happened to come up in conversation
and she directed listeners to look up the decision on her website if they are interested in legal things. No "news" really, as you point out.

30. Excellent
She won decisively too. The Court granted summary judgment which indicates that CACI had NO case. Randi's attorney made the motion at the conclusion of CACI's case and ruled before Randi's defense even began.
Congratulations Randi! :woohoo:
