So what do we do if Bush nukes Iran?
I don't have the answer to that question. But anyone who doubts that the madman and vice madman who occupy the White House wouldn't do this, has been living on another planet for the past six years.

Before replying, stop and give it some thought. Hiroshima and Nagasaki are the only two cities in the history of the world to ever have been destroyed with nuclear weapons. There are many who believe this was necessary. And there are many, including WWII vets, who believe this was a crime against humanity.

So we now have a president who is letting his administration "leak" suggestions that we are going to nuke Iran. Maybe I'm a fool, but I believe it's an empty threat and that he really won't do it. But given that he's certifiably nuts, who knows what he'd do?

The question then becomes, "What do we do about it?" Stop and think about it for a moment. Indiscriminate hell being unleashed on human beings.

In many ways, I don't think impeachment would be be a sufficient reaction -- as insufficient as the word genocide. It would be the most despicable crime against humanity ever committed in recorded history.

So the question stands. What do we do if Bush nukes Iran?

2. I worry, too, what happens if an extremist nukes a Western city
Both scenarios seem worse to me than what used to scare us during the Cold War.

Peace.

3. Very unlikely to happen: Iran has far too much oil
You don't want to deny Haliburton any oil revenue, do you?

9. TechBear: You're thinking like a sane person. It's my belief that we're
talking about people who are more into machismo/power than wealth. They already have the wealth. So all that's left to them is the total, absolute control over humanity.

In some ways, these people make Nero seem sane.

14. That is not a complement I hear very often
Thanks. :hi:

But look at our government, specifically the hands that control the strings. It is the oil barons and the like. They derive their entire wealth and power from petroleum. Nuking one of the large reserves of petroleum would NOT be something the oil barons would want to have happen. Therefore, it is not something the Junta would do, QED.

10. Bet me.
I've got $300 cash right here in front of me.
Put a date on it (how about, say, before June 2007?) and put your money up.

I WILL take your money. Bet me.

19. It's my belief that Israel would never launch a nuke unless one was
unleashed upon them. And it's my belief that the Mossad is superior to most intelligence agencies and would know if they were about to be the target of a nuclear attack.

Israel is not a threat to the U.S. It's the ONLY democracy in the middle east. And aside from all their political mistakes, they are a small country surrounded by hostile neighbors. But (to the best of my knowledge) they have never had an insane prime minister.

Ask yourself this: If George W. Bush was the president of Israel, what do you think he'd do with his nukes?

What's the point of being a "war time" president if you can't start wars for imperialism and profit?

17. I should ask anyone who remembers how Truman was regarded
Edited on Fri Jan-12-07 05:18 PM by LSparkle
after he dropped the bombs in Japan. I know we were in a World War at the time, but were the American people shocked that we'd taken this step? Were we ashamed? Did we want to rein in the generals and Truman and others who were prosecuting the war? I don't think so ... I wish our country had been repulsed and had vowed to never use those weapons again, but that didn't happen. Considering the "gung-ho" psychotic state of the Koolaid drinkers, I think they assume we can still "win" a nuclear war and seem to have no problem with using ANY kind of weapon.

We didn't understand radiation, and the idea of a nuclear holocasut was years away.

Since they are destined to go down in infamy, Bush and Cheney both might believe they'd be heroes again, especially if they can manufacture more lies, ergo Iraq lies.

23. Bend over and kiss your ass goodby.
Somehow, I believe, this will be the straw the breaks the restraint other nations have shown over Bush's imperial ambitions. It won't be the progressive nations that come after us either, but our worst nightmares, of terrorism and nations like N. Korea, China and Russia who might see a big advantage opening for them at our expense.
