New Paltz (NY) protest: "Send Jenna & Barbara first!" Protester: "Nothing left Bush can say"

New Paltz (NY) – Signs read, “Bush is the worst president ever” and “Send Jenna and Barbara first,” from the dozens of protesters that took to the streets in downtown New Paltz Thursday evening to express their disapproval of President Bush in calling for the deployment of 20,000 more troops to Iraq.

“The people in the United States really don’t want anymore people in Iraq,” said Rosendale resident Rocco Rizzo. “The first thing I noticed was that he didn’t have his usual smirk on his face, which he normally has, which means he’s pretty much in a jam,” Rizzo said. “I wasn’t convinced by it. He’s lied so much that there’s nothing he can say that can convince me anymore.”

Many SUNY New Paltz students showed despite the fact that classes don’t even start for another two weeks, to show the President they mean business. “I think he should send his own family and friends over there,” said one student. Another said that his new plan is “just ridiculous.”

Other similar protests were held in Goshen, Kingston and in a number of other locations around the state.
