Top Pentagon Official Threatens Lawyers For Defending Guantanamo Detainees...
The New York Times | NEIL A. LEWIS | January 13, 2007 08:34 AM

The senior Pentagon official in charge of military detainees suspected of terrorism said in an interview this week that he was dismayed that lawyers at many of the nation's top firms were representing prisoners at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, and that the firms' corporate clients should consider ending their business ties.

The comments by Charles D. Stimson, the deputy assistant secretary of defense for detainee affairs, produced an instant torrent of anger from lawyers, legal ethics specialists and bar association officials, who said Friday that his comments were repellent and displayed an ignorance of the duties of lawyers to represent people in legal trouble.

2. I'm dismayed that the AG is representing the President and not the people...

:grr: That son-of-a-bitch obviously fails to comprehend the most fundamental principles of justice! That bastard doesn't deserve to be on the public payroll! I'm willing to bet that fucker is a member of the Federalist Society. Anyone want to wager? Could he be a descendant of Henry L. Stimson??

8. Well, Stimson looks deranged to me. I certainly wouldn't hire him.
If I needed an attorney I would look to the firms he has disparaged first.

9. That was the idiot that was on Washington Journal this week
trying to make it sound patriotic to detain people without due process indefinitely. Was thoroughly working the line that the bad guys would follow us to our streets if we let them go.

10. It looks like the headline editor fixed the mistake.
Any threat is certainly veiled, if not burqa-ed or in a full-body cast.

"Attacks" suffices.
