Medical marijuana patients, please share your story!
Tell us when you became one, what state you're in, and your malady, plus any thoughts you want to share.

I became one in August of last year, after learning from my doctor that the only reason I currently *don't* have glaucoma is because I've enjoyed the beneficial herb for the past five years, since shortly after my optometrist found I had very high pressure in my corneas.

I've found that it both helps my eyes and my insomnia problem, and I'm very glad the state of California is compassionate enough to let me take my medicine, but I think it should be legal for all.

(My current favorite I/S strain is Grape Ape.)

3. I think I need an Alaskan vacation.

I just used The Google on my state and it seems it's decriminalized (possession) here as well - I had no idea. Further research required. ;-)

10. We thank the Alaska constitution
Edited on Sat Jan-13-07 11:00 PM by Blue_In_AK
which has one of the strongest privacy clauses of any state constitution in the country. Back in 1975 in the case of Ravin v. State, our Supreme Court ruled that possession of "small amounts" of marijuana (which over time has come to mean up to four ounces) in one's home is protected by the privacy clause. Over the years various and sundry governors and legislators have tried to recriminalize it, but every time it gets shot down in court.

We don't import much. Our local homegrown competes with the best. Perhaps you've heard of the legendary Matanuska Thunderfuck. :) Fourth from the left in this lovely photograph http://www.thecannabible.com/gallery/strains.htm

ed. Ooops, where did you go??

I could definitely use something legendary right about now -- so much doom and gloom in the world. Purple Star sure looks purty.

Listen, if you're ever in L.A., give me a ring! IIRC, you're gay too? We could probably swap some stories (and bud).

5. self-medicated for anxiety/insomnia
My grades have improved a full letter grade since I started and I feel much happier and more well rested as a result.
My sister has a med card in another state, and it's allowed her to deal with her knee problems nearly to the point where she has no pain at all.

7. Where are ya?
And isn't it funny how the lie is that it makes people stupid and lazy and unmotivated, yet you and I (and countless others) prove that's blatantly untrue every day of our lives?

9. Currently MA
I smoke with many other biology/chem/pre-med students as well. We aren't dumb. Not by a long shot.

But, we have to be very careful because the laws here are particularly draconian-- pocession is a felony.

I know many people like me who use this herb to help treat anxiety and fall to sleep easier. We're not dangerous, and I laugh at people who think what we do is a crime.

you without being arrested. I wish that the war on drugs was over. It is very wonderful about the medicinal properties marijuana. I saw a cancer patient become tolerant of other Dr.prescribed drugs and food after being able to have marijuana.

11. I used it to help with nausea from chemo....and it worked great..
But....everybody knows it works....except for the government (actually, they know it too, but they lie for their corporate masters)

In 1978, my doctors (at a major cancer research center), would occasionaly direct other patients to join me out out on the fire escape where they knew I was getting baked, before my injections.

Without pot, I would be lucky to make it home without puking out the car window.

I can remember getting really stoned before chemo one time, and stopping for a cheezeburger on the way home.:hippie:

16. LOL! Hungry after chemo, now THAT'S medicine!
I used to aid a friend's wife with her cancer the same way. Thankfully it went into remission.

The war on drugs must end.

17. here's the funny/sad thing about what you wrote:
There are several medications for anti-nausea after chemo that have synthetic THC. Clearly, it has medical use.

19. I was pronounced 'terminal' three years ago. But I'm still smokin'.
I have no idea (and neither does medical science) whether it has made any difference, but I have smoked MJ nearly every day since the day I was diagnosed with stage four adenocarcinoma and told I had only three-to-six months to live.

That was in June of 2003, and I'm still here.

The only rational conclusion about that that I can draw is that even if smoking marijuana doesn't HELP someone with cancer, one thing is certain:

It sure doesn't hurt.
