Bush: "Wow, you mean we can still win this war?”

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2089-2546344_3,00.html

<snip>

Frederick Kagan, 36, is the author of Choosing Victory, a blueprint for the surge adopted by President George W Bush. Just as everybody had begun writing off the influence of the neocons at the White House, genial, chubby-faced Frederick gave the muscular intellectuals a lease of life.

It was at Camp David last June that Kagan, a military historian and fellow of the American Enterprise Institute, outlined his plans for pouring more troops into Iraq to Bush and his war cabinet.

Donald Rumsfeld, the then defence secretary, was unimpressed, but Kagan’s views got another hearing when Bush was searching for ways to ditch the seemingly defeatist recommendations of James Baker’s Iraq Study Group. “Wow, you mean we can still win this war?” a grateful Bush reportedly said.

1. I was wondering who this new........
pasty faced mofo was. He's been interviewed on Charley Rose, PBS NewsHour, and Tavis Smiley. I had never heard of him before and now he's all over the place.

If he's the brains behind the Chimp's new strategy, we are fucked. The old original neo-cons have split before their grand vision collapses all to pieces and this guy is going to be left holding the catastrophe bag.

BTW, did you know they have no plan B? He said the president wants us to "focus on success." That is the brain trust running this catastrophuck!!

8. Yup.. we don't even NEED a president or cabinet or Defense dept
all we need are 'thinkers" from AEI/ Heritage/ CATO..

They "think" shit up, write papers on it, get on C-span, have that morphed into the Corporate media. and before you can say "Slap my ass and call me Shirley", we have a whole new policy :)

4. Can't you just see the little bastard dancing around all excited, like
a 14 year old boy playing war games? "Wow, you mean we can still win this war?" Jebus, what a juvenile little moron! You know he's going to hold on to this card with a bloody grip, cause it's his LAST one. :yoiks:

5. Kagan conjured up the idea that Busholini couldn't.
So now Busholini will go up against the American people, Congress and the US Military because he thinks that he can be a winner instead of the loser that he has always been.

6. Yep! He knew what he wanted, but not how to accomplish it.
Kagan gave him a PLAN, and he jumped on it. No way will the little idiot let go of that plan, cause it's all he's got. It doesn't matter whether or not the plan makes sense. It's a PLAN, dammit, and he needed one!

7. Bush, like a kid...
A kid who has that kind of resentment towards being told what to do such that he deliberately does the opposite...

Congress and the American People to Bush: "Let's begin leaving IRAQ."

Bush to Everyone: "F___ you! Pentagon, Send All Possible Troops to IRAQ!"

Of course, they couldn't come up with but 20K... that must've been a terrible disappointment for Chimpy.

Truth be told, though, if we had and could afford to send a few million troops, we really could temporarily restore order to some degree. They'd have to go house to house and dig up every back yard in the country, confiscating everything that even looks like it might be a weapon (box cutters, nail clippers and strange looking tennis shoes included (wink)).
