There are so many, I don't know where to begin, the many, many fairy tales that millions of people believe to be true, apparently adults with high school educations absolutely believe some really wild things.
Like, 'America is at war'. We're not, yet millions believe we are.
george w. bush is our president, he's not. We've got Osama on the run and we're gonna git him. We're not. Voting makes a difference. It doesn't.
We can stop bush's war. We can't. We can make the neo cons play nice and stop starting masturbatory wars. We can't. Impeach and arrest all of our war criminal, war profiteer politicians. We won't.
There will be a victory of some sort in Iraq. There won't. We are spreading democracy in the middle east. We're not. If we take it to the streets they'll surely notice us and do something. They won't.
Jesus isn't returning from the dead after 2000 years this year. dick cheney isn't going to suddenly grow a heart and have mercy on us all. Crippled soldiers aren't going to heal. Dead ones aren't going to return. The Sunnis and Shias will not kiss and make up.
You can't defeat terrorism around the globe. You can't expect our elected officials to save us. You shouldn't believe in fairy tales, and you should be able to distinguish between myth and truth. But....people actually prefer fairy tales, because everyone always lives happily ever after in them.
What are some of your fractured fairy tales?
