1. Saddam's pan-Arabism was a threat to regional stability prior to the Gulf War. His goal was to dominate the entire mid-east, which terrified his far weaker neighbors. Fortunately for them they had some tough friends (or should I say customers). When we warned Saddam not to invade Kuwait, he assumed we were bluffing and decided to call us on it. It turns out we weren't, and Saddam managed to gain himself the status of Americas favorite enemy.

2. We invaded to try and establish a democratic Arab state. The reason for this is two fold; first the belief that such a state would influence its neighbors into following suit and undergoing democratic reforms, secondly that representative government would end the grassroots support of radical Islamic terrorism common in the Arab world. The reason Iraq was chosen is because it was already a traditional American enemy and made for an easy sell. Nobody liked the Hussein regime, and everyone (except Scott Ritter) assumed they had weapons of mass destruction.

Iraq's invasion was planned long ago! All they needed to get the American people behind it was "a new Pearl Harbor event" which was 9/11/01! It's all there! I suggest you first read their document titled "Rebuilding America's Defenses".
The people who signed these documents are the ones who run things now! It's so obvious!
