1. NOT my little doggie girl...
She's as democratic as they come and if she doesn't like someone on first sight, they are generally (and inevitably) a REPUG...

No dummie, is she...and she's quite the affectionate smoochie pooch.

6. It's futile to try to assign politics by domestic animal preference.
Monsters and saints have had both types of companion animals.

10. Sorry, my dog is a Democrat--my horse is an anarchist.
An old style Irish--well Scotish--he is a border collie--pol no less always glad handing, happy to meet you. Admittedly, I'd like a little more law and order in my watchdog--if burglars break into the house the only way he'd stop them is if they'd trip over him.

My old cat of cherished memory was clearly a Republican--of the old money variety. My current cat is an apolitical fluffy airhead.

My horse is an anarchist. He's constantly plotting to humiliate the dominent horse in his paddock. "C'mon big guy. Chase me, nyanyanyanaa". My horse being a Thoroughbred is faster than any of the other horses he's ever shared a paddock with and considerably quicker of mind. Of course whenever he's risen to a leadership position in the herd he hasn't a clue as to what to do.

33. Cute cartoon ... but not exactly accurate
Dogs are friendly and they love people. They are loyal to their friends, they like to be included in activities, they can be very helpful and they would lay down their life to protect the people they love. They comfort people who are sad, they assist people who are disabled, they will gladly join you in a day's work, they bring joy to the sick, they offer companionship to the lonely, they rescue people who need help, guard your property when you're away and they'll even snuggle up next to you to keep you warm on a cold night. They simply want to be part of your "community" and they don't ask for much in return because they value the "simple" things in life: a pat on the head, a game of fetch, a few table scraps, a ride in the car, a good belly rub or a tasty treat is all the "payment" they need. :D

Does that sound like a Republican? :P

34. Wrong!
The only correlation between dogs and repukes is the rediculously ill-informed moniker people (DU'er's particularly) assign to them - namely - PUGS.

Not only is this an insult to a very compassionate, friendly and loyal breed, but it is also an insult to our Irish-American friends here at DU. But I digress.

At the very least, cats do not want to get involved, therefore they turn their heads to wrongdoing. You ever see a cat barking to ward off unwanted visitors? They are also sneaky in that they bury their "evidence" - furballs, poop, etc.. And they kill and are so blatant about it that they leave their prey lying around for their masters to see. Additionally, they are greedy in that they expect their food vs. dogs who dutifully wait for their bowl of kibble at the same time every day. The biggest problem with cats is, their smell. If they piss somewhere other than their "box" the "stink" can only be removed after bleaching and removing carpeting, etc.. Similarly, it takes years to undo any trace of Repukes ever being around or in charge when Dems come in and have to correct years of bad legislation and mis-management by corrupt administrations.
