Commenters at the 60 Minutes Site Are Disgusted by Bush >>>

This comments thread is wide open, but you would think you were reading DU. Looks like it's really becoming clear to folks that this Little Emperor has no clothes.

Bush, you stated you were satisfied that we caught Saddam. I want you to know you were the only one satisfied. The only thing that will satisfy me is to bring my people back home now. I do not want you as a President any more and I will not be satisfied until you step down.

I mean you no harm, you are part of my country. However, I only wish you would accept the truth of your mistakes, you President Bush is killing our American people. You put us in danger in more than one way. You started by killing our children and by bringing the danger home. Its all about your decision and not about seeking wisdom and humbling yourself before GOD. You are one man, and who are you listening to yourself?? Or are you having voices that are guiding you?? You are making me wonder, you started out good, seeking the counsel of GODly men...I am not sure who you are listening to at this point. You should have looked at Saddam execution and you need to look at all the boys of America deaths, over and over again until you become human again. Well this is my opinion and the good part is having been born an American.. I am allowed the freedom of speech.

6. The standard format in newspapers is to first
...call him "President Bush" and then "Mr. Bush" for the rest of the article.

64. Am I right in thinking that...
...it's actually incorrect to call him "President Bush" until after he's dead or at least has left office? I have always understood that the formal title of a reigning POTUS is "the President", without his name, followed in subsequent references (or less formal contexts) by "Mr Bush" -- and that he is addressed as "Mr President", not as "Sir". (Though I suppose foreign Heads of State could claim precedent and call him "yo, Bush!" or "Bushy-poo" ... )

71. Some newspapers do that
Notably the New York Times, which traditionally affords Mr./Mrs./Ms./Miss honoraria to its subjects.

Associated Press style, which most newspapers use, calls for "President Bush" on first reference. In subsequent references, either "The president" (not capped) or "Bush" is acceptable.

My 11 year old son was crying durring the speach, we usually don't let the boy's watch CBS (Janet JackSIN and Supper bowl nudity) but our commandor in chief was on and I home school so we used it for currant event's anyhow halfway through the interview my oldes t (11) got rweal quiet like and his ear's got read and then I saw big tear's rolling down his cheak and he said "Ma! There is a GREAT GREAT man!" CUTE OR WHAT! =) Out of the mouth of babe's! Someone is geting extra cake for desert tomorrow!

44. No way, that HAS to be made up
Then again, I still can't believe this man is still president, so I suppose I can believe there are 11 year olds that see Bush as a "GREAT GREAT man!"

My son, also 11, would no doubt have commented, "Ma! There is a STUPID STUPID man!"

My husband saw a post on one of his forums today (a non-political forum) that suggested Bush speaks like a man who has had several strokes.

13. Most of the people who home school shouldn't..
We're going to have a whole generation of home schoolers with no grasp of grammar, or civics. A co-worker home-schooled her teenagers and I remember having to explain to her that the Supreme Court was a lifetime appointment, This was by way of tryng to coax her to vote, when clearly I should have been encouraging her decision not to.

20. Most of the comments roasted Bush.
But here are my favorite freepazoid remarks:

"My 11 year old son was crying durring the speach, we usually don't let the boy's watch CBS (Janet JackSIN and Supper bowl nudity) but our commandor in chief was on and I home school so we used it for currant event's anyhow halfway through the interview my oldes t (11) got rweal quiet like and his ear's got read and then I saw big tear's rolling down his cheak and he said "Ma! "THE BRIDGE GROOM COMETH BACK FOR HIS BRIDE!!!!!!111 ARE YOU ENGAGED????? STAY STRONG MR. BUSH WE ARE ALL BEHIND YOU!!! WE ARE *RAPTURE* READY COME LORD JESUS, PRAISE YOU AND PRAISE GOD!!!!!!!11111 AMEN!!!!"

"The interview on 60 mins. with President Bush was very disrespectful of our President. This was an attack and a poor interview. This 60 min guy does not represent the opinions of the American people. This was his own personal view point. We should be thankful we have President Bush and stand behind him. He don't need a bunch of pit bulls barking at his heels adding to this very stressful job. If I hear him called Mr Bush one more time by the Liberal news , I think I will barf. He is our President so wise up before we have the enemy at our door step."

"When will CBS recognize that it is President Bush not Mr. Bush. I believe CBS continues to disrespect the office of the President just as Dan Rather did and for this CBS should be ashamed. Try to report the news and keep your opinions to yourselves. The american people can think for themselves."

S"cott Pelley and CBS News does not represent the country, as Mr Pelley so tried to present. I think that CBS news should report the news. Not try to make it. Sicking its big nose it an already stinking world and trying to make it smell even worse. Show the thousands of bones dug up where the Iraqi presedent had murdered. You think we should let that go? If we don't follow our leader you will not be able to go to your malls with safety. Get out of denile. Not out of Iraq. My son spent a year there. So I am not just spouting off. I held stock in that place with blood."

"Get out of denile." A hugh!!1! moran, maybe?

59. ocelot, don't you think that the post with the CAPS and !!11!!!'s
was satire? I immediately thought that it must have been someone from DU, because that's the only place I've read what Freepers have written. This has to be satire, no? I'm series!!!111!!

63. I was wondering about that, expecially because of the !!11!!s
Edited on Sun Jan-14-07 11:33 PM by ocelot
But you never know these days, because Freepers can be so over the top you can't imagine they are for real, and yet they are... And even if the comment was satirical, no doubt the real Freepers ate it up.

24. The comments are a sad reflection
of the inability of the American public to spell correctly. It is so incredibly disturbing to witness poster after poster betray their lack of language skills.

26. I was gonna post something about how their ungrammatical
and illiterate attempts to communicate speak for themselves to any neutral, fairminded readers. Then I started wondering what percentage of the population would be able to detect the mistakes. Then I got depressed.

29. Yes but even the illiterate are now disgusted by Bush.
At least a lot more of them are. Maybe they can't spell, but they can tell when a man's lying to their faces.

No way they can learn to think for themselves, if they can't read and write.

33. Yes, depression mixed with sadness.
And if we allow Chimpy to invade Iran, knowing that we are "led" by a liar, all of us are culpable enablers of this regime. We become the terrorists.

47. "With 9/11 as Revelation, (Bush), personally chosen by God, is about to lead us..."
'Bush hath taken on the Mantle of Leadership. I have never seen so much disrespect from an interviewer (call him MISTER?????), our Commander in Chief and Leader hath been chosen by the grace of God to lead us at a time like this. With 9/11 as Revelation, the President of the United States, personally chosen by God, is about to lead us, sisters and brothers, saints and sinners, into what hath been Promised and I for one am VERY greatful he is our leader.'

48. damn
I was originally of a mind to say that we should NOT push for impeachment first. That would likely rally the wingnuts and it wouldn't pass the Senate anyway. My thinking (and what appeared to the be Dem strategy) was to say that they weren't going for impeachment but investigations. Then when the full weight of wrongness was on the table, they wouldn't be asking for impeachment, the American people would be demanding it. Much easier to make happen then.

Well, Bush just told Congress to fuck off. If that ain't impeachable, I don't know what is.

73. Wow check this out
He "personally signs every letter to the families of Americans killed in action". That's ***. My chin hit the floor when I heard him say this. Our son, SGT Justin D. Norton, was killed in Iraq this past June. We received many "signed" letters from strangers, state leaders, and people from congress. When we received a letter from the president it was evident it was just a "stamp" with Bushes name. Shame on you Bush. R.I.P. Justin www.justinnorton.net

80. Reminded me of this...
And kind old King George
Sent Mother a note
When he heard that father was gone.
It was, as I recall,
In a form of a scroll,
With gold leaf and all.
And I found it one day
In a drawer of old photographs, hidden away.
And my eyes still grow damp to remember
His Majesty signed
With his own rubber stamp.
