Yep, he's a little sissy....
...let's compare some photos and see who you'd want as a "War President."

This guy:

Or this guy:

Or this guy:

It seems obvious to me that "Crying, baby Bush" is not who I would follow into combat.

7. I have no problem with men crying....
...I have a problem with an emotional upwelling in public and the duality of calling oneself a "War President." I frigging guarantee that did not inspire a bunch of troops who've been told to suck it up and drive on.

34. Just for the record...
I don't think that's a real home grown tear, but a bit of moisture artfully placed in order to suggest a strong man overcome with sorrow. Awww...a single tear...:puke:

The other eye is dry as a bone. Neither eye is reddened as they would be for the real thing, and the tear ducts are located at the INNER corner of the eye.
Think about the last time you cried, or saw someone REAL (not on TV or in the movies) cry...where did the overflow originate?
Inner corner of the eye, right?

Also, let's remember who we're dealing with and what the occasion was. George Bush.
"Most powerfully staged photo ops in the world".
'Shedding a tear for a dead soldier' is supposed to go a long way towards repairing his image as uncaring towards those he's sent to die. :eyes:

"MAKEUP!"

And the soldiers were banned from talking to the press after the ceremony.
I'm just sayin'...:tinfoilhat:

Let alone show any REAL emotions, such as empathy, sympathy, imagining himself in the shoes of the families, and other human stuff like that.

21. beautiful photos
Mattew Brady? Looking at him now in a whole different light now. The first photo is so don't-mess-with-me. And the second is odd. He's so TALL, but so slight. Look how thin he is! Think of how hardy one had to be to survive even a cold in that time. What fierce determination. How difficult life was then.

The guy to the left of Lincoln is Pinkerton... of the Pinkerton Detective Agency fame (or infamy depending).

His biography makes Cheney, Rumsfeld et al look like a collection of Disney characters.

Check him out if you get a minute, especially the coalfield stuff. Molly Maguire hangings and all...

some people seem to think that by calling any given monster "gay" or "sissy" they can INTENSIFY the monster's hideousness. Isn't that sweet? At best it's callous disregard for the feelings of LGBT people; at worst it's gay-bashing, pure and simple. I wish Democratic Underground members were beyond that sort of thing.

22. sorry
but you're wrong.

Sissy is a gender slur directed at men who aren't "masculine" enough.

You can't just redefine words to make them mean what you want.

Just call him a fag and get it over with.

29. First off....
...no I won't call him a fag, that's a repulsive word. Secondly, I'm confident enough in my own masculinity and orientation not to be affected by someone else's orientation, to each his or her own say I.

Lastly, I define sissy as a person who tries to manipulate emotions and actions of others through false pretense and an unwillingness to confront one's fears.

your definition is so far away from any REAL definition of the word, that it's laughable.

52. Oh no: "Sissy" means "a person who insincerely displays emotion," doncha know?
Everyone knows THAT.

:sarcasm:

What's strange is that the content of the original post even contradicts the poster's retroactive definition, with Churchill and Roosevelt performing some sort of traditional "masculinity" and being "followed into battle," while sissy boy, limp-wristed, twinkle toes fairy boy Bush boo hoo hoos like a little Pollyanna - not producing the required steadiness of masculine performance. Oh, by the way, "limp-wristed" means "liar," "twinkle toes" means "unethical," "fairy boy" means incompetent, and "little Pollyanna" means "unfit for office." No, nothing to do with masculinity and homophobia, no SIR! I means what I means, and use the words of my choosing to mean what I say they mean, general cultural meaning be damned! Why don't you understand me, when I use words according to my own liking - at least when I'm called out on it!

;-)

20. If he's tearing on the outer corner of his eye, shouldn't it mean that something is irritating his
eye? Like another poster said the other day, tears emanate from the tear duct. If he didn't have something in his eye causing it to water, then I'd like to know what caused the watering because it sure wasn't tears.

Edited on Mon Jan-15-07 12:35 AM by 8_year_nightmare
If he were given eyedrops to simulate tears, he's dumb enough to (1) apply the eyedrops on the wrong corner of the eye and (2) apply the eyedrops to only one eye rather than to both (when a person cries, tears come from both eyes rather than just one).

I have no problem with men crying either. I snuffled a bit when I gave my daughter away at her wedding (even more when I wrote the check for it). I blubbered when I had to put my dog down. But I wasn't doing it for the benefit of the cameras and I wasn't doing it because I had been told it would play well in the red states and among military families.

Slamming men as being effeminate is homophobic and misogynistic.

Why not call him out for being a hypocritical ass who wipes away tears with one hand while signing the order to send more troops to slaughter with the other? That's the real issue, isn't it?

30. If you saw him on 60 minutes tonight,
after he came out of the meeting with the families of the soldiers who've been killed, you'd know he fakes it.

He tried, and it was all just words, and he blinked a lot (insincere or lying).

That's because he's a psychopath. The wiring just isn't there in his brain.

I don't know what that moisture thing is on his face, but his eyes and his facial expression are INCONGROUS with weeping.

I have no problem with men who weep ... they can cry all over the place and even borrow my hankie, as far as I'm concerned. But I do have a problem with the fact that Bush simply keeps on doing exactly what he did before he teared up.

I don't want to read too much into this, but his right-hand side (the more smart-alecky side of his face anyway) doesn't seem to be sobbing ... in fact he looks rather calculating.
