Face it friends, Democracy is Dead in the USA.
Martin L. King would be very disappointed in the actions of our communistic leaders. Impeachment would be a mercy for this president..

3. I have already come to that conclusion and we are not alone.
One can sympathize with the many decent Germans who felt so helpless to do anything about Hitler and the Nazis. We are close to being them now.

13. not so much a frail fiction, as a block of thought, agreements and
a large body with huge inertia that maintains the democratic process, even in times of strife and need.

Unfortunately, the dismantling of so much of our governmental strengths has been the one true success of this administration. It is a feeble, weakened, and easily controlled entity. It no longer reflects the will of the people, not even after a resounding victory in our most recent election.

Industries and country run by elites while some people are stock holders and do the labor. Big twist I know. But its pretending to be on the side of the common working man.

add to that, the religious control over the top military men, deliberately placed by Cheney, et al, and I fear for what remains of our democratic process.

15. Why pick on communistic?
Wouldn't fascism, the extreme right, be a better description than the far left? How is this current administration remotely communistic?

Also, we are and have been from the beginning a republic, not a democracy.

That being said, the current administration is certainly pissing on the constitution.

25. Stuck in the cold war propaganda much?
You do know that whole thing was mistranslated. Kruschev was saying that communism would "outlive us" and not "bury us." Though the former catapulted the propaganda a lot better.

I just don't get how you can say that Bush in any way holds to the ideals of communism. He just isn't. Fascist, yes. Communist, no.

30. WHO doesn't fit the description of a fascist?
Kruschev? You're right, he doesn't. Bush? Yeah, he does. Go look it up for god sakes.

Plus, just a little bit of knowledge about the USSR will lead you to know that the Marxists fought vehemently against fascism. They felt, rightly I would argue, that fascism could only exist with a wealthy ruling class to support the oppression of the masses--something, if you understand ANYTHING about communism, that Kruschev and the other leaders of the USSR were greatly against. Bush is NOT a communist nor does he act like one. Saying so only makes you look ignorant.

20. Not buyin? Why not?
Bush has said he will do what he wants whether Congress, the Soldiers, the Generals, the Senate, the American people, the Iraqi people, the rest of the world, his goldfish, his pet hamster, Barney the dog, and the guy who fixes his toilet agree with him or not. How is that not a dictatorship? The American people voted for a change in Iraq policy and just to prove that the American People have no say in anything he went ahead and not only kept his policy the same but actually escalated it. Sounds like a big fuck you to me.

But we'll see what happens to the Dictator-tot, his cronies and his agenda. I'm not saying I'm overly optimistic about real justice catching up with the little shit, but it's a stretch to declare democracy dead just because the latest in a long line of rightwing criminals is doing his utmost to fuck everything up. We've experienced his ilk before, and will again. Doesn't mean it's time to pronounce the patient dead.

On edit: Yet.

31. That doesn't mean that democracy is dead
We have gone through these low spots before and still come out stronger. Ironically, the McCarthy era was pretty shitty in this country (ironic, in case you didn't catch it, because it was a time of propogandistic fear of communists much like you put forth in your OP). Eventually that bullshit was flushed down the crapper and out freedoms increased and we were stronger than ever.

I have faith in the system that it will happen again. I love this country and I think there are enough other people who do too so that the fight isn't over.

If you want to go listen to death-goth on your iPod and call our country dead, then go ahead and do it, but don't expect me to come along for the ride.

36. Never give up

Never.

Things are going to change. You are witnessing the last desperate cries of a bunch of cowards who know their reign is coming to an end.

I have full faith that if Bush and the Evil Cabal continue their warmongering and shitting on our Constitution, the people of this nation are going to rise up en masse and those idiots will be running for their lives.

There will come a time when the people say "enough." The fact that the Dems are now in control of Congress should make that abundantly clear - their days are numbered and they will eventually be defeated.

They hated us for our freedom and they have done everything they could to take it away from us. But I have faith in America, still.

Have faith and hang tough and NEVER GIVE UP.
